L03 EST problem

hey guys, I'm kinda stumped here, I was adjusting my timing the other day and when I adjusted it with the EST wire unplugged WINALDL didn't count any knocks on my drive, well a few but not like it does with it plugged in, the knock counter just goes steadily up, is that normal? Thanks guys!

well with the est unplugged, your timing will never go as high as it would with the EST plugged in. Have you tried lowering the timing until the knock count doesn't go up when the EST is plugged back in? Does it go up at the same rate no matter what timing you set ? Start out at 0 degrees advance, if it still knocks, go lower, and make sure you got 91-93 octane in there. I would only say something is wrong if the knock count always goes up when the EST is plugged in.
