new time estimates

Well, i threw this post up basically b/c i'm really excited because i finally finished with my rear axel swap, but the tracks wont open for at least a month; and obviousally i'm really anxious to see what kind of difference it made. If the snow goes away my dad might be able to bring an accelerometer home (like a $1500 gtech) and I'd be able to get a real close estamite. But i'd like to just hear some guesses.

I went from a 2.73 open 10bolt, to a 3.27 posi 9bolt. also getting new tires (old ones had literally, no tred) mods in sig, previous best was a 15.9, but usually ran 16.0.

I would be interested in seeing what sorta improvements you would see since the Peg Legged Open diff in mine is about to see the junkyard once the garage gets a little warmer.

Congrats on getting the 9 bolt in there...I am sure you are really excited!

No way man...I use to work on my car in the winter..but not any more....these 28 year old bones are gettign old...and rolling around on a floor with a diff in 20 degree temps are not my idea of fun anymore....lol.

With me, now she goes away in Novemeber and doesnt come out till the end of April...out of sight...out of mind!

With your diff swap what did you do for new brake Lines? Did you bend/fab them yourself or did you buy them already bent/flaired etc?

I would guess that your ET won't change much but you will see an increase in your MPH. I say 1/10 off with a 2mph or so increase. They are tons better than the stocker.

I'd think the ET would drop at least a tenth. Right now I dont even have to hit third gear in the quarter, thats alot of wasted power curve isnt it?

<------ thats the look i get when i tell people i can hit 90 in second. lol.

and whats tons better, the discs or the rear end in general?

Changing gears gave me the best bang for the buck improvement in speed when I had my 305. Similiar gears too. I would say atleast 3/10 for the gears and posi alone, and if you get some good tires (eg BFG G-Force KDW's) you could add another 1/10 to that.

well, i'm actually going to be getting some of the cheapest tires i can find. Truth is i spent all my money on the brakes and rear axel and have got very little left for tires. But the tires i have right now are unbelieveably bad, like, one of them (right rear, you do the math) was so bad, i could actually hear the air comming out of it when i got the car home. heheh, no tred, literally, if they were bigger you'd think they were slicks.

Tires are not one of those things to ignore. Very dangerous.
