Keep your eyes peeled
I went junking today looking for decent body panels (Ohio has the worst junked 3rd gens ever) and found an L69 dual snorkel air cleaner laying in the backseat of a lonely 3rd gen. The vin was too damaged to tell what year car it came from but I suspect a ’82, ’83 or ’84 L69. After some bargaining I walked away with it for $30. It is a little rough but I can get it sandblasted and powder coated basically for free. So keep on the look out at po-dunk junk yards. You may just find a great deal on a hard to find 3rd gen part.

I made a pretty good one myself, I nabbed an overhead console from a GTA... a non-a/c heater box, along with a notchback & rear seats for only $100.00.
After complaining to the old guy how I'd have to re-paint the notch to match my car, sand down the heater box and paint that too, drill in the overhead console and re-cover the seats to match my stock interior, he felt sorry for me (hehe), then said "take it"...

hmmm, I wounder if the dual snorkel I have off of my L-69 monte would be the same as the one of the camaro. Come to think of it I still have the air cleaner off of a L-69 camaro we parted out. I'll have to check that out.
Also if you have the hood clearance there is a van or truck lid that will go on the dual snorkel and let you use a 3 or 4 inch filter, but I doubt it would fit under a thirdgen hood.

Its hard to find those air filters and really hard to find the hoses and snorkels also..There is a company that is making the tubes and snorkels ..I believe its www.ramairbox.com , So, if you have the air cleaner assembly, they have the tubes and snorkels for it..

It appears that I can get new ducting a such from www.ramairbox.com.
Don't give up on your junk yards yet. If you travel it is even worth stopping at one if you happen to pass one.

FYI........this is the "truck/caprice" top on the std LO3 bottom. (With bigger snorkals) It just clears the hood with no insulation with performer vortec and .375" thick adapter and stock tb.

lol, if you cant find good thirdgens around ohio its prob because i have them all in my backyard. had my good 92 heritage rs for 3 years, have had a total of 7 parts cars, all lo3's. got a blue 91 rs 3.1 for free which was supposedly too far gone, fixed it and drove it all winter(never got stuck once!) and also got one of the parts cars for free and it was a mint ride before it got wrecked. actually the trans and many body panels came off of that car for my rs.
B and O auto salvage in strongsville has a whole f-body section, supposed to be pretty big too..

I've got one of those dual snorkel air filter assemblies sitting here from when the only other performance mod on the car was the SLP tri-y's. I'm collecting weird intake's for TBI... I've got the Caddy bonnet, dual snorkel, single, drop base, non-drop... now which to use, lol.

hey shifty, (it's "1988Camaro") that dual snorkel was a nice pickup, they are hard to find and they usually cost a lot if they're in nice shape....i paid a LOT for mine on ebay...If you paint it nice you can get over 100 bucks for it on ebay...i ran venting hoses on mine for the ducts b/c the stock ones/similar ones were too expensive[IMG]
