Fuel pump not problem, what is???

yeah, story of my life... its not the fuel pump, but it still wont start... for some odd reason... I know its not the pump cuz while it was up on jacks, i had the plug wires off, so i reconnected them, poured some gas down the TB and fired it to make sure i connected the wires right, and i figured, ok, its gunna shut off after about 10 secs... nope.. injectors fired perfectly and she was alive!!! i didnt believe it, sooo i shut it off and re-fired, no gas down the TB this time... 1st try it fired... so i figured, YAY just a dumba$$ fluke and my car is fixed... so i drop it down off the jacks, turn the key and... nothin... crank, crank, crank till the cows come home... the injectors are about a year old so i know its not them... wtf????

When you took the car off the jack stands and tried to start it, did you hear the fuel pump run and did you check and see if fuel was coming out of the injectors?

It could still be the fuel pump. I would check the feed line pressure to make sure. A dying pump will still flow fuel which will come out of the injectors giving you the impression that enough fuel is present. Often times this will be at 4psi or less which is not enough to keep the motor alive.

Could be one of a couple of items:

low fuel pressure
incorrect CTS value (check engine coolant with scanner)
not enough fuel via the ECM calibration

If it is starting when a little fuel is added down the TB, then it would appear that the injectors are not providing enough to start it.

RBob.

the thing i dont get is i even turned it off for 5 mins then started it again, no fuel down the TB, nothing.. just normal start. is there any laymans way to check fuel pressure w/o a gague? whats the voltage @ the injector supposed to be (i have a multimeter so i can check that) CTS value? how to i check that, i know u can check the coolant electrolyte content with a multimeter... and the fuel pressure, it worked perfectly, the engine ran strong, i revved it slowly then a WOT rev, then it went back down to idle and ran fine for like 7 minutes before i quit celebrating that it worked and shut it off...

You can check it with an OHM meter, ice water, hot water, and a thermometer. There is a chart here on TGO that has the CTS resistance values for certian temperatures. When you test your CTS the values should be close to what the chart says. It is a pretty easy test. I think you can rent a feed line fuel pressure test kit at an auto parts store.

You can have a windshiled put in for around $200. They will even drive to your house and do it for you.
