Car ran HORRID wtf!!
my somewhat respectable 1/4 time of 15.65 went out the friggen window this weekend! got to the track, had 1/2 tank vs 1/4 hot from the trip down there and i couldnt get traction when revving the converter on the line, went a 16.5 my first run then timed the car and forgot to unplug the EST and got beat by a F***ING cavalier as i waltzed down the track to a 17.00! the weight and heat arent enough to slow me down nearly a second are they? the air was damp too

Ouch.
How about 60' times? If you were spinning the tires, that can have quite an effect on total time. Also I try to get at least 4 [edit] Good [edit] runs in and take an average before getting too worried about anything.

I'm from Cleveland, and with the weather we've had up here the past 2 weeks or so, yes, I could see you losing almost a full second.
90 degress, with 75-85% humidity will KILL power!!

yea wondered if the weather did it. might go back tommorow and see if she does better, high test with less total fuel combined with my retiming which alone made the car feel better might get me back to the 15's. my 60's were:
2.5770 on the 16.5 run
2.6229 on the 17.05 run.
my traps were 84 and 80 respectively were i usually go 88.
wasnt spinning coming off the line i have posi installed, i was spinning when i tried to wind it up on the line against the brakes.

I imagine the weather had an effect, but that still doesn't explain the loss to the Cavi! Both vehicles are breathing the same air. Was he on Nitrous? That is just weird.

cavi was runnin a 16.00 he had something done to it, but that was my messed up timing pass. i had him off the line HARD i was cutting lights like crazy that night but he pulled past by the 330! man i was cursing..
i've got to go over the whole thing..
also some issues my car has developed since last year:
1) my engine temp is reading way cool, it reads about 160 when the thermostat opens which is still the stock thermostat, so its actually 20 degrees low or so. also the air temp is reading lowsince i havent stuck it up in the aircleaner yet. dont know what effect that would have other then possibly being stuck in the open loop mode or closed loop, w/e the warm up faze is.
2)new tranny didnt go in perfect one of the torque converter bolts was a lil crossthreaded but tight.
3) car was runnin 87 octane which worked last year but it definately likes mid or high grade better, doesnt pop out the exhaust when its coming off of high revs. hell even when i hold the revs at like 2000 rpm with low grade itl miss sometimes..
we're going back in two weeks, ima throw my cat back on for it.

My temp gauge started doing the same thing. The best thing you can do is use winaldl and see what your car is doing. It will also show you the correct temperature.
The IAT will not make a noticable difference in respect to being in or out of the air cleaner. The cooler the air the sensor senses, the more fuel and timing the ecm supplies, though everything I've read is that the IAT in our cars doesn't make for much of a difference, as opposed to say an LS1.
Even the slightest adjustment in timing can make a drastic difference in performance.
Heat and humididty do make a huge difference as well, though a full second is a bit much.

yea i've got high test in it right now with 4 degrees of advance, its okay but not the greatest, and my flat spot at 3400rpm/80 mph is TERRIBLE now, the car just stops accelerating.
how would winaldl tell me the correct temperature if the sensor itself is wrong? i replaced the sensor in the manifold, no difference i think its in the wiring
also last night i was nosing around, my car had an engine fire before i owned it, the wires going into my IAC were scorched and exposed as in i could see green copper and such, chopped out the bad section and coupled the good back together, not perfect but better, idle seems better too
imagine that.
gonna reset the ecm tonite, put a stock ignition module in and take her out, see what she does.. grr need laptop...

dude everything was killing me, when we go back im going to drive it from my house 3 miles away vs 20 from work and ive allready been finding lil things that were wrong like my timing my wires getting scorched on my manifolds and for some reason resetting my ecm seemed to add power..also we had to move the race back a week so i might have my new cat back fabbed and on the car vs my hillbilly short pipe. im seeing all these things that slowed me down,, a gallon of gas weighs what, 7 pounds and it moves against you so i was carrying like 28-35 extra lbs ofmoving mass sounds dumb but it makes a diff at the strip, the humidity was terrible that night and it was mid to low 90's after a long drive. the first pass was immediatly when we got there also soooo.. cant tell you how hot the car was as my temp sensor is RETARDED but im sure i was around 200. oh and everyone's 60's were terrible, there was like 0 traction compound down and it was slick out there, could barely rev against the converter.
i sound like a wimpy bastard here...

you think ill gain torque by putting on a cat back vs my short pipe?
