you guys need to go test drive a vette, even a c4. Or better yet a nsx. I love these cars, and i can't think of a better handling car for the money, but they are no match for an irs and/or mid engine car. I have driven some tight little imports too.

Clean yourself up a bit and go to your local dealership. Many salesmen will let you take cars out on your own if they are busy/lazy. They just take your license in exchange. Good luck on driving an nsx though. And whatever you do don't wreck. I recently took another RS out for a few hours myself.

Im a daily driver also. 20 miles to, and 20 miles from work. 305 tbi auto. Still get 22 mpg. It is all stock and original. Even has the smog on it. I thought I was being smart when I bought it, because there was an 89 Iroc for sale on the same lot. It had a 305 tpi, but It had headers and a cold air kit. I told my wife I wanted this one and she said "what, I figured you get the hot-rod" I thought if its been modified, its been ragged on. Ive owned my car for about 2 years now and have replaced the following: fuel pump, water pump, front rotor(stock) brake pads and shoes, hoses, serpentine belt, head gaskets. And I love it
Im looking to find a way to get about 400-500 horses in it, but all in due time. Im in the information gathering phase right now.

1.) IF you ever get to that number of ponies it will cease to be a daily driver

2.) For those numbers, I would highly recommend going to a 350. To produce those numbers with a LO3, it would have to be one SICK buildup with about a 100 shot to boot.

Not hatin', just lettin' you know.

Mine WAS a daily driver, then I got my 94 GMC Suburban with a 454, which is now my daily. Gets a whopping 10mpg. Once it cools down the Camaro will be a daily again

So yeah, I guess no matter what you could say I'm a daily TBI driver

And drop at least as much as what you paid for the car to put in a super charger. I suppose it's possible. Worth it? Maybe not.

The crappy computers in our cars are not well equipped for that and for only $2K, you can get crate 350's all day.

Right on with the crate 350 and with the right setup you could make one with 400 - 450 hp and still be a good daily driver. R90Camaro had a 383 that got a little over 20mpg with a great idle.

How do you afford to mod your car when you are buying three tanks a week? That is a lot of gas and gas is costing an arm and a leg!

I drove my '89 RS 2.8L 2 winters ago, and that sucked...

My '89 LO3 RS that I just bought was never driven in rain or winters, and It will stay that way for eternity if I can help it. I drive the beater in rain/snow, even though it is registered/insured year round.

The camaro is not a daily driver but everything else we have is basically tbi,
my driver is a 91 bravada 4.3 thats getting a injector pod spacer, msd helicores, blaster coil, msd cap and rotor and thinking about a blower for her

Pops has a 91 suburban with 180k, all the ignition stuff, exhaust, tbi spacer, true ram air
84 fiero 2.5L 4 speed one barrell tbi, exhaust, worked head
Moms got a 90 blazer that has the BIG airfilter assembly from the suburban, 91 lumina that has a tbi lets just leave it at that

Sister has a 91 blazer bone stock that she beats the hell out of

What can i say we like early 90's tbi cars, plus the other 3 that arent tbi

The more I read, the more it becomes evident, It is possible, but probably not without an engine change. I am currently looking into a roller 350 block, a 383 stroker kit, and some other nice mods. I plan on building a killer sleeper, so all that stuff will get hidden, or disgused, and it will probably get a throttle body. Im guessing 450 hp isnt to hard if I start with a good engine. And a healthy dose of juice will help push it past the 600 hp mark. All I need is money. I accept donations if anyone is interested.

I drive my car everyday. I got it when I was 14 and I'm 17 now. It had the factory plugs and wires on it when I bought it at 127,000 miles . It has 143,000 on it now and the LT1 swap starts soon . I ran a 10.7 at 65 in the 1/8 mile with all the stock emissions crap and a flowmaster muffler.

thats actually the same idea ive been looking at / saving up for. im not lookin for as much hp. but id like to get a roller 350. and i could use my 305's crank (since im not looking for that much hp and need to save where i can).

i also accept donations... i cant find any steady work, so i take what i can get.

daily 305 tbi

well i drive mine every day, i have lowered it 1.25 inches, performance Tokiko shocks (5 way adjustable) 17 inch rims with 255 40's out back and 245 35's out front. I take the 17's off for the winter and put the stockers back on with sno's on the rear. as for the gass mileage it sucks a**! it has 150,000 on the clock and it burns oil and runs super rich ( i wount pass emmissions {leagaly} )

Daily Driver here! Paid $500 for my 1990 RS TBI Auto 2 years ago. Spent another $1200 on her thus far with mods, maintenance, and replacements. 182,000 miles and drive her as hard as she'll take it - 45 miles round trip to work daily.

almost 182,000 miles and it's my daily driver, ususally drive between 200-300 miles per week. gas prices are killing me, which is the main reason I haven't put in 3.42's or 3.73's yet or my wallet would REALLY be hurting.......

daily driver also. Even when it snows and I have to get to work Anyway, 192k on car but only 35k on motor pulled from an Iroc. Basically I have a tpi motor with the tbi manifold. I beleive that gives me better heads and a slight different cam. Also have done 350 injectors, chip( mostly for speed limiter), and k&n open element.

Oh yeah, on a 220 mile all highway trip I managed to get 25.09 mpg with the AC on In 3 more weeks I get to find out what it does without AC.

Re: are u a daily tbi driver?

I know it's an old thread, but it's a cool one.

My car has 185,000 miles on it, and it's gettin me 21 mpg mostly city driving (I deliver pizzas with it!).

Not too bad ... not at all. My truck was gettin me 12mpg...

Anyway, Im trying to get my money's worth out of that 305 before it gets dumped in favor of a 350 I've got waiting to get assembled...

If I can get her to the 400,000 mile mark, I'll be very happy!
