just installed my edelbrock pro-flow drop base thing.
what a difference. i used to squeel into the next gear only every so often. now its damn near everytime i nail it. sounds MEAN too.
its pretty easy to install too. and pretty cheap. wish i had done it sooner. (when i bought the car i put on a k/n filter with stock airbox, it made a good difference back then) this is leaps and bounds over that.

give me about an hour and ill go get pics.
it REALLY cleans up the engine bay too. i plan on doing the 1.6 roller rockers (like 60 bucks on ebay. LOL) and the drivers side looks easier then ****. when i take out the A.I.R. system the pass side should look awesome too.
as far as the install.
the only hiccup i had was that when i bought my filter thingy, i also got a pcv valve (i had recently repalced my drivers side pcv valve) anyways, i was yankin on the tube for the passenger side thing and it broke the grommet or whatever is part of the valve cover and the tube flew out. then i realizes that its not even a pcv valve. its a damn tube. thats it.
secondly. if you dont use a gasket at the base. the bottom "piece" will hit one of the connectors on the coil (not the main wire that goes to the dist). so id get a new gasket or salvage your old one. im gonna get a new one in a few days cuz my old gasket broke.
i think i need a cowl hood. the wingnut is touching the hood liner no doubt. but its not hitting the hood i dont think. i MIGHT just slap a normal nut on there so that the huge wings dont poke up so high.
so now it just sits in there loosely. lol.
i ran a hose from the metal tube thats right there and the new rubber hose just hangs below the car. let oil drip out of it. yea about that, lol. my old stock airbox had a pool of oil in the bottom of it.
guess my engine is ****.
man. the car FEELS so much different. its crazy. and the exhuast has changed note too. its.. rumbly?
deep and rumbly? im about to palce an order on summit/jegs for some exhuast stuff. so...
car mods:
timing at 6*
intake thingy
trans cooler
shift kit
rebuilt (and built up somewhat) th700r4
180 thermostat
manual electric fan
no back seats and seat belts
i thought about gutting my interior. anybody know how much weight i can save if i leave in the dash, front carpet, frotn seats, and center console in and take out everything else?

An option:
Summit Part # SUM-G3000B. This is the non-drop base that allows you to get rid of the gold/bronze spacer ring. Anything you can do to clear space around the TBI unit will improve air flow.
This thread hashes it all out pretty good:
