What cam are you running? ( I have a lunati (well, UltraDyne, but that is a whole can of worms).

The car has a one time best of 14.76 but I could not back it up and do it again seems to hang at 14.81 to 14.9 93 to 95 MPH

I need to get into prom burning this is as far as it will go with the basically stock tune

The cam is a lunati 6107 with crane gold 1.6 roller rockers ontop

Good choice.

That is the Cam that Harold Brookshire made for Lunati. He used to work for UltraDyne, and designed my cam. So mine was basicly the prototype for yours.

I went 14.5 @ 96 with my motor, so hang in there for some PROM work, there is time to be picked up.

Wow great times! PROM tuning should make that car a whole lot faster. You only have postive outcomes from here on out. I hope we have another 14.5 second LO3 on stock heads.

Small world!!! I worked with Jon Kern Back in '97-98 I used to own the Shop Automotive Works down in central Texas

Jon (AKA The Shop Engine Works) had worked with Harold Brookshire at that time about setting up this cam for my car
The 6107 was the final cut of this series. It is a shame that Holley owns the whole thing now!! I have not been able to really get this car setup or running right until now

I won't even start talking about the fact that I have a proto type of Steve Spohn's first adjustable torque arms --

Like I said small world..

Thanks Shifty,
I need to get off my a@@ and tune this thing If I advance the base timing to *8 degrees I have explosive low-end power if I set it to 5-6 degrees it will pull well over 6 grand

This thing is screaming for a PROM TUNE

how much did your 3.73 rear gear make a difference?

Did you install it yourself?

I love this rear end setup I now have.. I have had everything from a 2:77 all the way to a 4:10 in this thing built them all myself

Btw stock was a 3:08 one-wheel peel

For my setup 3:73 is perfect I can take off from a stop normal city traffic in second gear skip shift to fourth all day

And when a pesky SRT-4 or a 5.0 want to play just hit the line lock and launch!!

nice man.

i hope to be in the 14's one day, even if it's a 14.999

got the LT1 cam waiting, got myself an ALDL cable, one step at a time I hopefully will be there.

All I need are some better gears. these 2.73s are killin me. Once I get some extra $$$, that will be on the list too.

Awesome!! It's always great to see TBIs joining the 14 second club!! I'm crossing my fingers, and probly just dreaming, but with the fact my car DID pull a 15.3, I hopeing with some very basic work I can get close. I have a 3.23 posi/disk rear from an 87 IROC going in this Monday (yay!) and I'm hopeing that that, with a little intake/exhaust and some computer play I'll get there. I want to get there with a stock L03!!!

(and yeah, I know, it probly won't happen, flame away.......)

I have a cam and valve train set up almost identical to yours, but I'm running a Trick Flow heads and it's been prom tuned.

Oh yeah, and it's a 350. I'm hoping to be mid to low 13's, but my tranny is acting up, but not enough yet to warrent getting rid of it.

Wow I appreciate all the support!! Believe it or not I am still not very happy with this cars performance. I have owned it since new. I bought it in Germany while I was in the army. The car was basically stock in 1995 sans/ dual snorkel air cleaner and a thermo master chip. At Cecil county drag way in Maryland the car turned a best of 15.54 at 91mph. Thousands of dollars, hundreds of hours - ten years later I have gained a barely over half a second in the quarter. My current setup is this- 1986 GM; crate 305 L69 HO– non-roller cam, one-piece rear main short block. Heavily ported 187 GM heads D- ported on the exhaust side 1.95. 1.60 valves. Installed the above Lunati cam with Crane 1.6 roller rockers. – I have a 454 tbi sitting on top of a Weiand 7547 intake manifold. Headman jet hot coated headers random 3” cat. I have both an 8746 and 7747 ECM for it I have an epromer 5 chip burner – no luck making it work

Drive train consists of a Centerforce dual friction clutch disk with ram pressure plate stock T5 – LS1 drive shaft 3.73 nine-bolt rear. Spohn parts include LCA relocating brackets sub frame connectors pan hard rod and adjustable - torque arm.
Too much time money and effort to be this slow.!.! .!

Once you slap a tune on there it'll feel like night and day man! That combo's pumping a lot more air than the stock 170hp beast it once was

I'm in the same boat as you. I bought an abused, slightly-wrecked '92 RS, but somehow it runs great for having 183,000 miles on it. It is a work in progress, but it has potential and it will finally get the life it deserves. I'm planning on putting a 350 tbi in it sometime next year, although I still haven't decided on the gears, I'm thinking maybe 3.42s or 3.73s.

the black '86 IROC is my brother's, the teal RS is mine

i have heard the 3.42 setup is a good combo...im in distress right now trying to decide on a cam to use with my setup...and i think my compression is going to be too low and cause my engine to suck ....Im going to pick up the engine from machine shop and start doing this myself so i can check for deck height and all that to know for sure(the machinest doesn't want to check my deck height..even with me paying him...oh well hiis loss)any way sorry for the rant
