will removing cats cause stock tbi chip to go lean?
Well, something's rattling around in one of my cats. I figure I've either got a piece of the cat broken off and stuck in there, or the engine has coughed up a piece of a piston. The only way to find out is to pull the cat and see what falls out.
If it's the cat, I'm thinking about just eliminating the cats and having a "test pipe" made. Since I've moved to Oklahoma, there aren't any emissions inspections, so I can de-smog the car if I want to.
My question is, will pulling the cats cause my stock TBI and chip to go lean? I already noticed it get leaner since installing the headers and exhaust.

You won't have any problems if you remove the cat. The 02 is upstream of the cat and you can just let the AIR tube vent out in space.
