What the hell???

I was browsing through ebay today at school (i never have anything to do) and i found a TBI firebird with an intake setup like this. Looks kinda cheap, but it reminds me of some of the old school muscle car setups. Would this setup yield any type of gain over stock??

the only odd thing i see is the k&n extreme flow filter in an otherwise stock housing without a lid.

Thats all it is. And no, you wouldn't see any gains from that with a stock hood...

I know what it is. I was saying that it reminded me of the setup used in some muscle cars (no lid). I wanted to see if it would yield any gain w/ a stock hood and it seems that i wouldnt.

apparently if you flip the lid upside down you get some gains.
it also sounds cooler

Yea my dad said he used to do that to some of his older cars (and even my grandparents cars )..

Actually i have another question about this lame setup i posted...

MY friend has a 4 inch cowl hood on his camaro, and i've been trying to help him find a way to make one of the custom CAI for the TBI cars. Now, how would that setup work with a 4 inch cowl hood? Would he expect to see gains over the stock intake???

Actually, I did that one time on the stock air cleaner and the car sounded ALOT more different at throttle. It also sounded a wee bit different on revs as well. The car felt stronger too at the pull, but I put the lid back the way it was originally because after I had parked my car for awhile it wouldn't start again...so something must've sucked in there.
