305 to 350 whats needed fuel wise?

ive had a 350 in my 88 SC for about 4 yrs now when i first got it done the check engine light was on forever but it still ran fine, a 15.2 at the track. when i got my engine rebuilt this past fall i was told the light was on because it was retarding the timing due to the use of mostly 87 octane fuel with the stock 305 heads. i havent put more than 2 miles on it now after it was rebuilt with a mild cam and the light is out. but anyways i know i need to run 93+ to make it run right, but anyways back to topic. what should i get to get more fuel into the engine for the bigger motor. ive heard of 454 tbi's with the 2" bore intake manifold. is this a good idea for my setup??? im trying to make it a street/strip car but mostly for the power. if a 454 tbi is good for it what else do i need to do to it for the best power and drivability. sorry for the long speel on this but im trying to give the most info on it for the best feedback. future plans in the comming months before spring time are high stall converter(whiich would be the best for power and drivabilty?) headers 3" all the way, posi 3.73 rear, also ive taken out the high beam for a ram air and am planning on taking out the other for a dual ram air. im looking to hit 13's with it (hopefully) i dont know much about injector sizing and lph and all that other stuff, im just a body man anyways if you can give me any info on this setup it would be much appreciated. thanks

(also what about ignition should i change anything with that)

Our TBI cars run on whats called a speed density FI setup. Which means it takes a manifold pressure reading, looks at what RPM your at and then calculates how much fuel the engine needs based on a few constants, one of which is engine size and another is injector size. So your ECM is confused right now. There are two ways to fix this, one is to get a 350 chip for a caprice (only TBI'd 350 with your 746' ecm), 350 injectors, and a 350 knock sensor. That would be the cheap and easy way.

The not so cheap (150$) and better way would be to get into DIY chip tuning, this way you can go in and change your chip for your exact combo. Then you'll have the power to match your tune for what ever you do to your engine. Cams, headers, intakes, heads it won't matter you can make it drive like stock. It's not easy, but it's the only way to make power with FI.

I agree get the 350 knock sensor, 350 tbi or 350 injectors and a stock 350 chip / ECM to get a good start. Then start your other addons and tuning from there. This way you will have a good head start and should be running much closer to the numbers your looking for. Getting a bigger stall is only needed if you have the cam to match it. Since you say you have a mild cam most likely it is not needed.

Part # for the 305 TBI and 350 TBI cars/trucks are the same.

Heck my 4.3 sonoma has the same fuel pump as my camaro had.

I was running a stock TBI fuel pump in the tank for a long time with my 350. Never had an issue.
