First thing I would do is double-check everything and make sure that everything is hooked up properly and bolted down, just to make sure. Make absolutely sure that the firing order is right and that the distributor went back in properly. I would also highly recommend double-checking the valve lash, if it's set too tight than you can get all kinds of "interesting" problems, to say the least.
When you trying to start it, what's happening? I'm assuming that the engine is turning over, but it's not catching and running, is this right?

Yes the engine is turning over, but it is not catching and running. This is what it exactly does, It would start turning over, and if it felt like a big boom would come out of the throttle body and some smoke. And then i would start turning the engine over again and if it felt like doing it again it would.

Did you check to make sure that the #1 and not the #6 piston was at TDC when you reinstalled teh dist.? I think that would cause you to have spark while each cylinder is starting its intake cycle if the dist was intalled at #6 TDC. Have someone turn the engine over (NOT using the harmonic balancer bolt) while you have your index finger in the #1 sparkplug hole. As the engine aproaches TDC, if you feel compression or hear air hissing out past your finger, then the engine is on its compression stroke. When the motor reaches TDC it will be at #1 TDC. This is where you want to install the dist. with the rotor pointing to the #1 terminal.

also when i swapped my headers on a while back i forgot to reinstall the ground wire on the passengerside rear head it grounds the engine and causes the same problems you speak of,
also when i installed my camshaft my frend was not used to roller motors and he came over and tightened the rockers down too much and it ran like crap and had the exact same symptoms that the grounding wire had. so i loosened the r arms and set them according to the manual and it worked fine.

This is the story i installed the lt1 cam, o81 ported and pollished, manifold, double timming chain, edel water pump, new gaskets, etc. This is what happends putting all these things.
Well my car was out of timming, i guess thats way the little back fire threw the thottle body would happen. Then i got the car started and i started to set the roller rockers, while seting the roller rockers i noticed that the oil was changing color too like a light peach color and i turned off the car and new that there was water getting mixed with oil. Tighted the heads with a inch pounds torque wrench not a ft pounds wrench. I had to remove my headers again to thight the heads to ft pounds. Removed all my oil, oil filter / water. Got new oil, and oil filter. Started the engine again and it started to run purfect, ajusted the roller rockers. At first i was using one of my friends cars chip and was running really bad. Put on the old chip that i was using that was programed with under drive pulleys exhaust no egr,ETc. And is now running like a champ. So all i have to do is tune my car and it should be running beuaful. I went on a mission!
