Looking for easy Quik info On 350 TBI...
Alright, i have a 1988 350 TBI out of a pickup all rebuilt with around 30,000 miles on it, in my 1988 camaro
.. alright with that said, the stock HP rating is 190hp.. Pfft! Have new exhaust system, from the Cat, Back.. Looking into short flow headers and trying to keep Emmisons and cat, but thats a worry for later.
I found this,
"INJECTOR SPACER
I used plastic that could take a decent amount of heat to make my injector spacer. It doesnt have to be super tough as it is on a reletively cool part of the throttle body and is not subject to manifold vacuum or being doused with fuel. I made mine close to 1/4" thick. THe stock gasket makes a good template. Use the band saw, or scroll saw to go around all the curves. To take out the portion in the middle feel free to cut into it from the back side, you can always put a small bead of glue in the crack later but I didnt feel it was neccesary. Once you have the spacer put the throttle body back together. You may very well be able to use the stock screws. If not, it is a common metric size that any hardware store carries."
Alright, now This is something I am borrowing from the site, i made yellow lines in a specific area to for an example,

This is where the injector spacer is to be placed? I have 5''(wide)X12'(Long)X 3/4''-1''(thick) Plastic sheets, and Ive made snowmobile carb to manifold adaptors, They work great!
Basically what i want to do is to make that gasket (where the yellow line is) 3/4-1 inch thicker.. Is it possible? I realize i'd prob. have to get longer screws.
Now what this will do is raise the injectors and will increase air flow alittle bit, and may change where the fuel sprays?
The plastic sheet pieces i have are finished and very smooth and balanced if you will. so where ever the jet of fuel hits now, will still hit later.. i think..

So thats hollow and nothing is there? I wish i had a few spare TBI's, so that spacer thing i want to do is 100% fine.. I am kinda stumped that theres a gasket there and theres nothing there... Unless its there to keep moisture out.. any other tricks like that? Is it possible to make a manifold to TBI adapter, and if i can. do i make a spiral effect? or something like a V, i understand that both Barrels would have to be Exactly the same size and very smooth and if i were to make a cone effect the size of that would have to match the other, Im not sure.. I have tons of this 3/4-1'' plastic... i had 2" thick sheets but i used those for fixing my friends slides on snowmobiles as well as my own of course..
Please give me some ideas on what to do, Im able to try almost anything with the spacer..
Thanks, Nick

check salvage yards they mostly junk all the tbis they get in.the only real differance in the tbis that i have found that are not interchangeable are the tps(one is adjustable and the newer ones are stationary).but if you end up eith one of them diff from yours you can just strip the wires back and use the ones on your cars harness...there is actually an adapter available to use your tbi on a 4 BBL carb intake..lots of people use them so they dont have to use the restrictive tbi manifold.check out http://www.howell-efi.com and then select tbi parts then tbi adapters...let me know if the link dont work...I think that gasket is there to keep the injector pod from touching the tbi.you can also get an adjustable fpr or just take yours apart and make it adjustable.theres a thread here to show you how to do it....hope this helps a little

My Mechanic.. the guy who does my dirty work... the guy who has almost every tool that i dont..
Anyway, i told him what i was going to do, and he said, Nick.... Dont do any of that BS, theres one thing you have to do, theres a little computer chip that you need to buy and install. and once you get that in, if you dont like what it gives you, Get all new exhaust pipes NOT the Mandrel(Spelling?) bent type, because they restrict So much air.. if you are still unhappy... Look for a 383 Stroker..
Now i asked him, what chip am i looking for. and he said he wasnt sure, and for me to look for some.. then he said, find the ones you may like research them and then tell me what you want, i'll order it from advance for you.. I get a 15% discount.. or you can get it yourself.. whatever you prefer..

Mandrel exhaust pipes ARE what you want. They do not have any crimps in them and they support far more power than traditional crush bent pipes. If you are running the stock LO3 exhaust on that 350 than you need to strongly consider an exhaust swap from the headers back (3" system).
You don't just look for a 383 stroker. They either have to be made or you must buy one from another persons creation. Buying the motor won't do you nay good unless you figure out what type of induction you will run (TBI or carb) and have your set-up planned for it. Mechanics often resort to "swap a 350" because it is easy to say.

I wouldnt swap my motor for anything..
To burn a chip... Now theres a few possible meanings to that, lol
What does it mean? and what do i do? i need a kick in my rear and a finger to point the direction(s) when it comes to electronics..
Heck, I havent figured out how a calculator works yet...

Fear not! TGO is the best place on the net to learn how to work with your car. Check out the DIY PROM board and get ready to read. You will learn that with a simple cheapo laptop and free software you can download the parameters your ECM produces and use additional (and cheap) software to change those parameters so that they run with your current set-up.

Just wondering, would Super chips or any of those things work on any of our cars?

Mail order chip = garbage
You will spend far less in the end to buy the necessary equipment to burn your own chips than to buy one "stab in the dark" chip from an aftermarket source.
