when i go to start it my rpms shoot waaay up to about 2000-2500k and just sit there for about 2 minutes then work their way down. what is this? and how do i go about fixing it. cause its a total waste of gas and really annoying. i would have searched, but, you get it.

You talking about warming up. Open-loop.

All cold motors have to "warm up" - a cold motor doesn't want to run - you either have to reduce airflow in (ie choke on a carb - it's called choke 'cause it "chokes" off the airflow thus increasing fuel-to-air ratio) - or increase the fuel in - a cold engine needs more fuel-to-air to run at all. Same as the choke on your lawn mower, weedeater, chainsaw, leaf blower, boat. Until the engine warms to proper operating temps, it will do this - it's normal - it has to in order to stay running. Try cranking a cold carbed motor with no choke sometime - it won't run without your foot on the gas.

Nothing to fix.
