Hi I have a 305 v8 tbi in my 92 camaro RS 25thanniversay and i want to get a cam and lifters for it just don't know exactly what to get. I just want a mild cam. Not much else is done to the motor yet. If anyone has any suggestions on which one would be the best to purchase let me know. Or is anyone could help me in understanding what to look for that would be great.

well ive got a 89, same LO3 i think. my hopes are to do the lt1 cam swap. its a good hp on the dollar swap. and i really dont want to buy a $200 cam for my 305. if u read the "lt1 cam digest" sticky at the top of the tbi page, youll learn alot about cam swaps in general not just about the lt1. the obstacle that im facing is how to get a custom tune. good luck. i know youll get some better answers in no time.
BTW full exhaust and ultimate tbi mods (also in my plans) are gonna get u good power also.

a larger cam is not going to help much if you still have the stock exhaust on the car. also be fore you put in a cam your going to want to learn about tuning your TBI. up grading the fuel system at that point is very wise, bigger fuel pump and probly going to need some new injectors.
I already have a full exhaust headers back with no cats with a cut out. So i am kinda got that. Now i want to put a cam and lifters with the roller rockers i have and then go from there. just for now. If anyone out there can give me some numbers etc please help thank you enrico.

If you read in the LT1 cam swap stickies you'll see that tuning is key to making power with TBI. Just the exhaust you have on there now has changed your fuel curves be 10% or more. Luckily GM made these tunes rich from the factory so you haven't noticed any problems yet.....key word is yet. With a cam swap your tune is going to be way off. Most guys who do the LT1 swap have some form of drivability problems and don't make all the power they should. The lt1 cam is around 206 deg which is actually very small, but huge compared to stock. If you want to go any bigger than tuning is an absolute neccesity, I say with your exhaust tuning will be mandatory with even the LT1 swap.
Once again I harp on the fact that mail order tunes are crap, they change as little as possible and come no where close to getting your tune correct. Check out the "come in for a FREE tune" thread in the stickies. You'll see how I'm helping a thridgen owner tune his 350, he only has exhaust and a big throttle body and has had to increase his FP and retune his fuel curves by as much as 20%. Imagine what a cam swap would do.

LT1 Cam Digest Thats the sticky. Stickies are threads that stay at the top of the main forum page, in this case the tbi page... Shifty has about 10 links in his second post, on that page, that are full of info. if the "numbers" you are looking for are lsa, lift, duration, etc. you'll find all that in the sticky. this is assuming you wanna use a lt1 cam, if so follow the links in the sticky. if your looking at comp cam or something they should advertise all the numbers.
