Why TBI? Because it came with the car and I feel TPI would cost too much.
Times the car is running now, some where in the low 13's, I've haven't taken the car to a track in some time but I have beat down a few car that I have seen run mid 13's.
What I got now, Basicly a 91 firebird with a T-56, 4.10 gears, 87-95 2 bolt 350 40 over with a LT4 Hot cam Kit and some china aluminum knock off head with 190cc intake ports and 64cc chambers, Torker II intake, late 454 TBI with holley yellow injectors running at 45 psi. RIght now I'm gettin a exhaust up grade. Hooker long tubes 2210's skulte long tube crossmember. I undecided on trying to fab some duals or try the Mufflex Y and 4inch back system. First thing next week I'm getting Rbob's EBL, the stock ECM has been kicking my butt for the last 2 years and I'm not to happy with my tunning with it and one I get I'm going to start fresh. I'm thinking about going to a Vitor Jr intake. I slao might drop back to some 3.73 gears. Posably going with a earlier TBI pod with a VAFPR and 80pph injectors.
Right now I'm looking for ideas any thing that can help. Other than changing displacement heads and trans any thing is game.

drop some weight and if u can, throw a lil steeper gear out back.

The 4.10's are pretty good with a T-56. Any lower numerically and it may start to bog down in first given the higher 1st gear ratios that where used in the later t-56's.
What about the heads, what are they a knock-off of? Is the casting of reasonable quality, or did they basically just make some crappy molds of an existing head? Some of that stuff is so poor that it would hurt performance even more then a stock part.

Had the heads flowed the castings where not to bad al all. angle plug heads with 2.02 and 1.60 valves. Only complant about them is that the accecory bolt holl on the passenger side closest to the midle of the motor is way off.Originally Posted by dimented24x7

Those are pretty good flow numbers. I would think that with a good PROM tune on that car you should be pretty close to 12's. The EBL would help you out a lot and you really want to get a wideband on there to make sure your AFR is good up top. Longtubes on that engine will give you a good power increase too. Now you just want to make sure you have a solid tune and can hook up good at the track, if you can do that you should be very close I'd think.

You could always juice her. A little nitrous never hurt (maybe)
Keep us posted though, my goal is also 12's with the TBI, I'm getting frustrated though with all the computer programing and thinking of going to a carb.

I've got a cam up for sale that might do you a bit better. Didn't ever get to try it out with my TBI setup, but it is roller and not incredibly wild.

With the flow numbers of those heads, I'd think he'd be looking for MORE lift, not less. With 1.6" rockers, your cam only yields .481/.496 lift. The LT4 Hotcam has .525/.525, much more in line with the airflow of those heads.Originally Posted by Mark305TBI

from teh engine you have there shoudl be plecnty of power to get into teh 12's already. what do you have for suspension?
i woudl suggest getting to the track so that you have some usable data to work off of. guessing where you stand based on playing around on the street is pretty much useless.

With a cam that big and those gears, I'm kind of suprised you're not already there.
Should be in th 12's. . . . . Lack of tuning skill and shot in the dark with just a NB O2 with Eldebrock TES headers a small carsound cat and flowmaster cat back didn't make for a good exhaust.
Only suspension mods I have are LCA relocation brackets and a front end that sits higher than the rear after a fiberglass hood aluminum heads and junking the AIR system.
