anyone done NOS?
anyone done NOS?
i was going to supercharge but after research it just seems like too much pain in the a$$ and too much money...so nos looks like a winner but is it just a bolt it up and go ? what pre-cautions should i take?

I did NOS 2 years ago, on my 89 RS with a 350 TBI. It worked. But the damage you could do to your engine is not worth it, my car would run very hot when I used it (naturally, the fuel mix is burning hotter) It would run so hot that the fan couldnt keep it cooled down fast enough. I used a wet EFI system from Nitrous Works, it was pretty much bolt on, just a few miner mods that anyone can do in their garage. I used the lowest setting jets that the kit came with just to keep me from really F-ing up my car. And it worked alright! I went fast, but its not like it is in the movies, that you hit the button and your gone. Its sort of a weird feeling, you hit the button and the car starts going faster and faster with out you pushing the gas anymore and it doesnt really put more RPMs through it, it just gives you liquid Horse Power!
I've run both kits nitrous works and Nos. I also have a whipple super charger on my car as well. I agree with you that supercharging a tbi vehicle isn't cheap. However it's not a pain in the butt as long as you know how to tune. Nitrous is the easiest method for cheap power.. As long as your in tune and your fuel pressure is good you wont have a problem running it. I recommend you get the nos brand of kit WET KIT (much better than nitrous works)..Just follow the instructions and follow the guidelines. Running the rights spark plugs, retarting the timming based on the shot etc... Their are also ways to save you engine from blowing up such as fuel pressure cut off swithes and so fourth. Do a couple of searches and you will find alot of information on this..

The bores on the 5.7L are the same size of the stock throttle body bores. If you have a throttle body which has bigger bores than a stock one look for the 454 big block tbi nitrous kit. I ran into a problem when i upgraded to a different manifold and had to take a die grinder and widen the nitrous plate bores.
