alright guys i'll try and keep this as simple and short as possible but, it will probably become lengthy, anyways here it go's
short version: I want to upgrade to a performer rpm intake on a l03 and then soon after be able to use the same manifold on an older set of 416 heads off of a 1986 lg4 block. So the question is can this be done and if so in what ways will i have to modify it, how much of a pita is it to modify it?
lengthy version:
I've got a 1992 camaro rs with the l03 engine. The l03 is pretty much wornout it's just plain *old* after 150k miles, so i obtained a 1986 305 lg4 block with 416 casting heads. These heads are sidebolt design and the newer tbi sp heads are centerbolt as you know.
Being that i'm 17 y/o i would rather do a buildup starting with bolt ons, on the old l03 block (for money reasons). It has the common sbc intake manifold leak so i figured while i have it off replacing the gaskets i will upgrade to a better intake manifold (performer rpm most likely), and rebuild the tb.
What i want to know is which type of manifold should i buy it for in this situation (older styled or newer). That and if they are modifiable while still looking good to work for both applications.

When you modifiy the center 4 bolt holes, add a washer, put a little silicon and you will never know it was done. I have done many intakes this way. Takes about 5 minutes hole with a drill or about 20 minutes for the intake.Originally Posted by flaming-ford
