4L60E vs 4L80E hlp fast
Hey, my moms got a 95 tahoe truck. My dads trying to hook into the computer and get it to spit out the codes to us, to tell us why its SES light is on.
When the little computer that you hook up to the car asks for info about the car, one of the choices is 4L60E or 4L80E, what do these mean?
Thanks alot
We're trying to figure it out, but with the heat index its like 110 degrees outside, so I figured id ask around.

Those are different types of transmissions. 4L60E is the electronically controlled version of the 4L60 (which is the re-named version of the TH700-R4). The 4L80E is essentially a "heavier duty" version of the 4L60E.
"4" means "4 speed".
"L" means "longitudinally mounted" (in other words, rear wheel or 4-wheel drive)
"E" means "electronic"
60 or 80 refers to the torque capability of the internals.

Having never dealt with one I can't be positive, but isn't the 4L80E an electronic overdrive version of the TH-400?
