Does this thing Really Work?

Has anyone used one of these Casper's throttle response enhanser?

Caspers Electronics Throttle Enhancers: CEI-102015 - summitracing.com

What exactly is it doing to enhance the throttle response?

Is it something prom tuning can accomplish? I have heard of people splicing resistors in to the TPS circut to "improve " performance (wich I think just tricks the ecm into spitting out more fuel) is that what this is?

Or is this just a gimmick?

It's voodoo stay away!!!

I guess if you had a weak tps or something this might help but so long as it is good and your tune is good I can't see you gaining absolutely anything out of that.

It basically increases the voltage of the TPS signal tricking the ECM into thinking the throttle is opened further than it is. I can't seem to think of any way that would help your motor. You can increase throttle response correctly by tuning.

Only thing I can think of this doing is giving you more timing advance at part throttle, which could account for the throttle response. But it's all a crock of ____ and a complete waste of money. Besides, if you have an adjustable TPS like some do, you can accomplish the same damn thing by loosening the screws and with a voltmeter connected, turn it and bump the voltage a little.

And then you can discover the lovely world of a high idle, awkward decelerations, and hanging rpms during rev-up.

I have it and it really does work. Car feels more responsive. Best of all I gained 50HP! on the dyno from this mod. It also helps with gas mileage. With it and the "Tornado" I actually get 30mpg city and 40mpg highway!! Thats over 10mpg more than I was getting. Its about 5mpg for each mod.

Its snake oil. It only exists because people will buy it. It doesnt actually do much, if anything. Maybe set a TPS code, but other then that it just skews things.

Same thing with the tornado. Its just an intake restriction and induces turbulence.

Oh, BTW, if you like those, youd also like the $100 magnetic fuel cracker/ionizer.

at 70+% throttle, it tells the ecu its at 100% to trick it into spraying more fuel. so... unless your car is running lean between 70 and 100%, it's gonna do you no good and actualy it can hurt you once you do get some better throttle response out of the car if you're doing any type of touge running or autocross, anything where precise throttle modulation will keep you right between going slow and spinninng out.
if you want better/cheap throttle response, do the ultimate TBI and an open air filter or build a custom intake like i did!

my CAI
the pictures are linked in a few posts down. one improvement that nee'ds to be made is that you need to make sure there's nothing touching the bottom of the plastic tube. mine had a hole rubbed in it. doh! i'm gonna fasten a piece of thicker plastic to the bottom tho to prevent that again.

and here's another...
