Cam?

I was looking into DIY tuning, being that I have a mild cam in my l03. The specs are 203/450 203/450, I've noticed that with this cam once the car settles into closed loop it wants to die. I also should tell you that this is a brand new motor, and I have checked and rechecked for vacuum leaks. It was also bored .030 over. At this time in order to keep it from stalling i've raised the idle a little. It idles at around 650rpm, but at every light I stop at the rpm seems to get a little higher or a little lower. Could this cam be causing this these issues?

Absolutely.

The cam is definately the responsible culprit. It has much more duration that the stock L03 cam. It will decrease idle vacuum. Let me show you how that works.

The first picture is where a stock L03 would idle

The second picture is where a mildly cammed L03 would idle

Third is what you would actually see with a datalogging program, this happens to be from the EBL setup on my old L82 cammed 312.

Ok thanks. Now to start taking the plunge into DIY tuning, I just need to read up a bit on the stickies to see what I would need exactly to get started. again thanks alot.
