Even with this engine should I expect my car to run only a little bit faster than it used to even though I have an engine with the potential of 350+ horse.I am using the stock TBI and stock computer. Is this lack of power to be expected?I am just running it with the stock TBI while I get it broke in.
gees i forgot my sig again

Dude, u can't run an engine like that with STOCK TBI! U need to get a holley 670cfm tb unit and u need to get a custom prom made or atleast go out to the junkyard and find a 350 prom from a formula or somethin to hold u off until u get a custom one built. Ur engine will run REAL ****ty if u keep that stock TBI unit and stock prom.

I figured that.So I need to get the 670 which I already have the adapter for and then drive it to this guys place called pauls high performance and have him burn a chip for me?will this be enough to make the engine run at full potential?

a 350 prom from a formula

92RSCAMARO,
Like 91BIRD305 said the 670 and the prom are a must. have a custom prom burned. Only then will it reach its full potential.
Here is why you have a lack of power:
The new motor with proper fuel, air and spark will make (350 hp you said?)
So you re-install the same TBI and distributor that was designed for the fuel and air requirements of a 180 or so HP 305... That extra power that the 355 makes if from its ability to pull in extra air (and use the extra gas that goes along with it) Youve choked it with that tiny stock 305 TBI unit.
To supply that 350 with the air it needs... a 2" bore unit from a big block truck would be my first choice, if not available, then the Holley unit. Either of these will come with injectors that will work... 85# ish... make sure you dont get the 65# injectors that can come in the holley 670, they are not enough to feed 350hp. Now, you have the air and fuel CAPACITY, you need a chip that will properly send the correct amount of fuel and adjust the spark properly. I suggest you go to the prom board and ask questions about that portion. You do need a custom chip if you want it to run right. If you install an aftermarket TBI w/o the chip, you will be way rich at Idle or way lean at WOT depending on how much FP you run.

I will definately try to do that when I get the money. But I achieved my goal of beating my friends 91 mustang gt auto with full exhaust!and the timing is retarded also.he wont even be in my mirror when it is running right.

I just think that it is funny because my car stalls if I put it to the floor and I beat his as*.My friends friend that I dont know to well has a 89 blue mustang gt 5 speed with a full exhaust and cobra intake that I can beat also.I know this because I was in my friends 91 when we raced him and I beat him worse than what he did.I just cant wait to see how it will run with the timing right a chip and a 670.
I know I need a 670 with 85lb injectors and a chip. but what is the deal with the fuel pump?I think I heard that it will only handle like 320 horse or something. So what do you guys think I should do about a fuel pump for my application, like what one?

I would get an Edelbrock Fuel Pump or somethin. As for the formula chip, I just was guessing on that, I figured he would get the clue and maybe get a hold of a 350 chip until he gets one burned. If I were u I would get the aftermarket fuel pump, custom prom,Holley TB unit and get 85lb injectors,MSD Distributor, maybe even a MSD HEI Coil and get some MSD Superconducters. I like mine and if you go MSD Dist. then u might as well go with everything else MSD. U know?
