?'s about going from 305 tbi to 350 or bigger

I am assuming that I can put in a 350 and use the same harness and emissions equipment with only a few changes( chip, bigger tb,etc.).Am I correct on this assumption, or is there more to it than that? I am wanting to swap in a bigger engine without having to change too much stuff around.I was entertaining the idea of a remanufactured short block,350,maybe 355.Then putting the top end together myself using high performance aluminum heads, intake, cam, and getting a bigger TB unit from a 454 and bigger injectors.I wanted to use the stock harness and sensors, etc. and change out only a few things including the chip.Possible without any problems?

yes, the only problem I've had is a 32 code being set at cruising speeds but it doesn't affect my performance. I would get a better intake b/c the stock only flows to around 4800-5000. I would also get some headers without the air tubes and take the smog/air pump off since all it does is pump air. You can then remove all that air tubing running behind the bloack and down to the cat. Keep the rest of your emissions equipment. A good high flow cat and cat-back is a must also.

I would get some AFR Heads, go to there site and get a Free catalog sent to you.

Call Comp or Crane cams and have them suggest a cam for the hp and TBI you'll be using along with your heads. Then call the chip manufacture for a special burnt chip for your setup.

As far as sensors go, get a 350 knock sensor, 350 ESC control sensr and a 350 EGR valve. Also a heated O2 sensor may be neccessary with the high flow exhaust (3 wires instead of one..easy to hook up). A new chip isn't a must but it would help. Don't go with Hypertech..mine made no real change that I could tell. I hear performance research is making some good chips with noticeable hp gains. Move your timing to 8-10 degrees also.

The stock fuel pump will work fine. A bigger TB will be needed and an adjustable Fuel pressure regulator. The Holley 670 has one built in to it or you can order one to fit on the 454 TB unit. Have to adjust it according to how your sparkplugs are looking.

You got a pic of your car with those new rims? Had any clearnace/rubbing problems? I'm going to ROH on my TA soon but can't decide if I want 16" or 17". I know the 17" will cost $$$ for tires.

good luck.

as you can see by checkin' out my sig., it's working for me. little problems here and tehre, but for the most part, works damn good. i have the vortec heads, which meant a lot of screwing around with different things, so if you plan on keeping the regular (6 bolt pattern) you will be all set. i also have no emmisions, which made things a lttle easier. any questions, post em and i'll be glad to help.
