hey man, i think the black outs look good. And since my camaro is red i have to say good choice there too.
As for mods on your car, if you want to keep the engine and stuff, I would go with headers and a nice muffler with 2 nice tips. Other than that you already have a good rear in it.
Nice Ride!!

It does look good. It looks to be in near perfect condition. I personally would like to know what you think of the overall look of the car? Do you think you'd like ground effects? I personally think ground effects bring out the best in any car. Some are lame but others really are a bold statement. On the other hand ground effects really have no function in performance (actually hurt airodynamics and weight). As for mods I'd really recomend headers and a cat-back. Good luck and have fun with it.
Oh yeah, and do all the free TBI mods like the removal of the silence ring in the air cl. lid. I'd also recomend getting rid of the solinoid that directs hot air into the intake.

Hey mike, glad u like the site. I would say to go with 3" exaust & either SLP or Edelbrock Headers. Then do the element, free tbi stuff and maybe some sort of chip. I loved my transgo shift kit. Just my 2 cents.

. I personally would like to know what you think of the overall look of the car? Do you think you'd like ground effects?
personally i like the birds w out the ground affects. My father has an 86 trans am with all the factory ground affects and while that looks real sweet i like the tapered look of the stock birds and formulas. Especially with the wider tires.
I will say that my next mod is a cat back. I am bored with the factory exahaust and i want something that will sound mean and look kool to. I am really looking into a flowmaster. I origionally wanted stainless stell but it is extremely expensive so i will just have to see hwat happens.
Eric the site is great thanx again

IMO
ground effects are the best body mod that you can do to a car. it gives the car an overall low appearence. the best example of the point i am trying to get across is: have you ever seen a 4th gen z28 compared to the RS with the ground effects. those Rs ground effects should have come on every 4th gen. while im on this subject does anyone no why the 4th gen RS's were v6's
but now that you mentioned ground effects they are definitely a good investment.
Good Luck

ya the 4th gen rs ground affects deffinetly look sweet. I think u can special order an rs with the V8 though. While ground affects do look sweet i dont think they would look right on my car. It just has a different look w out them.

They didnt put the rs ground effects on the z28 because of the weight. An SS with ground effects ran the exact same 1/4 mile times as a z28 without. Some people like looks, some like performance. I guess if you wanted good looks you got the rs, and if you wanted performance you got the z or the ss. I personally love the look of the 4thgen rs w/ effects. But, as with my own car, it looks and sounds faster than it is. An rs, with an lo3.

I like the car. It looks very clean, which is rare for a '89. I question the rear spoiler. It doesn't look like the factory spoiler for a Formula. Did you just add the WS6 rims and call it a Formula?
Keep the blackouts, they look nice and clean, like they belong on the car.
Add some Formula decals to create something else to look at besides the red paint. Especially if you don't plan on adding ground effects.
Nice car!

no its just a stock firebird. I just got the wheels seperate. I was gonna get the wrap around spoiler and formula hood but for some reason the car with the wheels just looks different than alot of others around me. I am still undecided on if i am gonna get the factory firebird decales. It looks cleaner w out them. Here is a different pic.http://hometown.aol.com/fierbirdluver/myhomepage/profile.html<<<hopefully it works
well, now you can order that sport appearance package with the groundeffects and the spoiler on new z's. I am thinking about ordering one, but can't decide between that or a transam. If i get a transam i figure i might as well get a ram air and i figure if i get a ram air, i might as well get the firehawk for about the same price. Anyway, in my opinion, ground effects can make a car look 100 times better.

I agree, if I didn't have ground effects on my car I would probably get them. Makes the car look a lot better and lower.

Man, your Bird looks excellent. Appearance is a matter of expression. Looks super clean and well taken care of. As I am finding out component matching is going to make all the difference in the world. Good luck.
thanx tim
and as far as ground affects go....i wouldnt put n e thing on my body that wasnt there from the factory (ground affects, spoilers, hoods ect.....) not to say there is n e thing wrong with doing that i just like to keep things origional.

Keeping an engine and body stock would be great for a rare or somewhat "known" car. Like the 87 GNX or a 89 TTA but I don't think keeping a 91 firebird 305tbi LO3 stock would be benifical. 170hp, 255lb engine wouldn't be something to show off down the road.

well if i wanted to keep the car 100% origional i wouldnt have done n e thing to it as already said. I just dont want to do it up like some punk ride. I want the car to be very clean, mostly origional and a few minor mods to improve performance.
eric true its not like the tta or the gn. Those are very rare and extremely fast. I wasnt compareing them . I just luv my car and figure the best thing for it is to keep it mostly stock. but hety thats just me

I thought you were going to do a cam and heads swap with your engine?
i sure am. well probably just port the factory heads but different cam for sure. y? Its just another one of those internal mods that no one sees. The point i m trying to make is that im not in to all those hoods, racing stripes, spoilers, ground affects or n e thing else really that changes the "car". Doing internal mods such as cam , heads and gears isnt doing n e thing but making the car a little faster. Its kind of hard to explain. Does n e one else know where im comin from?

Yeah I see what u mean. So u want everything on that is seen on the engine or body stock but the inside not stock. I guess thats cool. But your going to need an open element and a modified tbi and a good intake to get anything out of those cams and heads.

i acctually was gonna have the tbi unit ported. I wanted to take it in to have a tune up kit installed and i think when i do it will go to a machine shop and i will have it modified. Open element will just look nice. I am gonna get the edelbrock elite series.
BTW what was that reason the elite series valve covers wont work?

just wanted to let you know that you can get the k&n open element for $10 more through summit. The elite series is like $60 and k&n is like $70 and it does come with the filter.

The oil cap doesn't match up on our valve covers. Its on the other side of the covers and it doesn't have a PCV line on them either. I can't remember everything, it was last christmas, but I know that someone on here got them to work by taking them to a machine shop. Your engine isn't going to look very stock with an open element, and a aftermarket intake and elite series valve covers.
But who cares, it will be a lot faster if you do all of what you say and look real good too.
Heads, cam, intake,tb,headers, exaust, elite series....but you will need a custom prom burned to get your car running right with all those mods. Espically the heads and cam mods. You'll need a AFPR to or just do that make your own ARPR with the one already on there.

well eric ur right, it wouldnt look very stock but it would look sweet
i want to find out the exact detailes on the valve covers. I think the elite series would really look sweet.
BLUE92RS i didnt know much about the KN system. I think summit has a deal with the elite series for 45$ with a kn filter. I ll chech my catolog on that first so dont quote me

hey man
you can put the elite series vavle covers on your car. Order them with the holes for pcv. then when you get them there is a small hole, it must be ground out to fit the rubber bushings. put the bushings and then slide your pcv valve in. there is no oil cap but all you have to do is pop out your pcv valve and and put a funnel in there and pour away
hope this helps
good luck
