HP Gains with these mods and TBI

oh....heeeeeeeerre we go
1. Vortec heads shaved .045
2. Cam - What grind for street use, and gas milage?
3. Intake - any vortec intake
4. TBI unit - Ultimate TBI
5. I have headers....there Hooker Supercomp Shorties, but I dont have a fuffin y-pipe so I have to have one made.
6. custom 3" from y-pipe to cat...to back.
thats all for engine mods

then I would go with a posi disk rear....with like 3.4x's....and an aluminum driveshaft....

All of this is to go on my 45,000 mile old (origional) Lo3. Is this gunna make a lil power? I have machine shop connections, and can get parts really cheap so putting in a 350 isnt really the option because...well just beacuse. Oh yeah....and a chip....a big nasty fat chip to get this all to work.

I estimate a hp gain from 50-100hp depending how well everything comes together. I've seen stock vortec heads on a LG4 run almost 100mph in the 1/4 so I believe the potential is there.

Keep your cam conservative. Talk with the cam manufacturers.

Definitely plan on a custom chip.

Ok....as for exact heads. I will be using L31's that are already made for pre 86 intakes, shaved .045-.055 ( compression woooooohooooooo) Torker II intake for even fuel dispersion. Turbo city tbi adapter, Ultimate TBI, open element air cleaner, and probably a comp xtreme energy 256 or 262 grind cam. Hopefuly some serious power, streetablility, and ok gas milage *crossing fingers* maybe 20+

edelbrock makes a Victor intake for those vortec heads. you need to see if the torker2 can be port matched to the heads. the intake ports are supposed to be pretty high.

comp cams and crane cams both have off the shelf pieces that would be able to take advantage of those heads. you may want to get a set of 350 injectors while you are at it, the stockers may lean ya out too much.

Cool. Its lookin like for under a grand and a week or two of downtime I'll be making some serious power. Hopefully in the neighborhood of 260-300. I'm still a little schetchy on the intake. I really need something that will fit under my hood, but in the same right will bolt to my vortec heads, which by the way I decided to go with the straight l31's....not the ones made for pre 86 manifolds. Also would it be in my best interest to go with a single plane intake, or a dual plane? If dual plane seems to work I can get the heads...haskets...rockers.....about everything i need for 700 bucks. Then all that leaves in the cam....and the y-pipe for my headers. I just got a 3.42 posi disk rear and aluminum driveshaft from Spillmans (local salvage yard) for a pretty good price (under 100). So that'll be going in before long. Its just kind of a wiznitch to work on my car. The guy before me put a 2" belltech kit in it. Oh well....maybe someone will make a low profile floor jack hehehehe. Anyways....off to sell my mustang....need the cash.
