I was lookng through my GM performance parts catalog and In the caption about the L31 heads it mentioned that I would need "guided" Rocker arms or aftermarket equivalent. Valvetrain lingo is far from my area of expertise so if someonw could enlighten me as to the meaning of "guided" when referring to rocker arms I would be greatly apprecitive. Also Can Roller rockers be guided? Just rying to cover the bases.

these rocker arms are called "self aligning" because they don't have pushrod guideplates to keep them in place. Roller rockers can be self aligning. The 1.6 ones in the LT4 hot cam kit are self aligning. They have a little valley on the tip to keep it aligned on the tip of the valve stem.

 

So what you are saying is that If I get Rocker arms that are "self aligning" they will work just fine on the Vortec heads? I just want to make sureI get this right before I go out and drop money on theses things.
