you can use any cam you want as long as its for an SBC

will the l98 cam run well? Sure why not.. dont expect it to be brutally fast though

it would be my thought that if you are changing cams, do it with the perfect one not just one you want to try. research and pick one that is perfect for you, tpi cam seems to me to be suited for tpi. look into something that will benifit your particular engine.

305 engines, 350 engines, 383 engines, etc all use the same cams. Any cam made for a small block chevy will fit in any size small block chevy. The only difference is flat tappet, and roller cams. Flat tappet cams are in 86 and older engines, and roller cams are in 87 and newer engines.

I think you should do some more research before yu purchase a cam.

You aren't gonna find a cam specifically made for a 305 TBI.

Comp Cams has a TBI specific roller cam that looks like it would be awesome! 258/264 adv duration, 206/212 at .050", .480"/.488" lift! 112 lobe sep, PN=08-500-8.

Any comments?

crane also has two different grinds available for tbi. i think i would consider the comp one for a 350, but the .488 lift sounds a bit big for a 305. most of what i have seen looks like once you get past about .460 lift in a 305 you start getting into valve shrouding issues.
