330 hp 350??
330 hp 350??
I was thinking about getting this engine.Emmissions is not a big deal. Should i just get the one for $2000 and buy my own intake and carb. Would i have to get a dist. or would my old one work. Should i just by the deluxe 330hp 350 that comes with the intake, carb, and dist. for about $2999.

I was thinking of doing the same setup you are doing but I found that for 300 more bucks I could get a 355hp 406lbs of torque ZZ4 that includes everything but wires, carb and a starter. So I found that to be the better deal.

Yeah but the one is only $1999 an it comes with 330 horsepower and you need to but those parts but it shouldn't be more than $700 so it would only be about 2700 which is about probably 800 less than getting the zz4 and buying those parts and 800 will probably pay for the install if you dont know how to which i dont

If you are thinking of sticking with TBI then it will come to around 1200.00 in aftermarket parts. I did the math. But if you are sticking with carb then it would be around 800.00 in parts but if you get the deluxe package for 1,999.99 then all you would need is a return line AFPR and some other small stuff like a different cable bracket for your carb and that would be it. That would run around 3,100.00. And the ZZ4 comes with everything but a carb and the other stuff I just mentioned (AFPR,bracket) So I just thought the difference was was worth it for the ZZ4. Plus, if I am going to swap to a 350 why not go with one of the best crate 350's out there today? Know what I mean? For an extra 400 bucks I would.

Sounds like you're going to be doing the same thing as me. Except I'm trying to pass NJ emmisions. I looked at the 330hp 350 but it's got flat tappet and that's ~15% loss in hp. So I figured I'd just work my **** off more and penny pinch for either the ZZ4 or a custom built caprice bottem end with EGR heads (edelbrock, trick flow, AFR, etc). I'm really just looking for the best hp:$ ratio while maintaining emmisions legal prestige :-). I think it would be just wild to go to englishtown raceway with my RS and plain sleeper looken hood. Then come out with some mid-high 13's :-). Now I'm trying to figure out what is a better deal, the ZZ4, the caprice EGR, or building myself.

If ya go carb, u don't need to get a custom chip burned.
And parts are cheaper too if u go carb and u will produce equal, if not more power. They way I look at it, they dynoed the engine with carb, so it must be the best injection for that engine.

its not a 15% loss with a flat tappet cam. there is however a POSSIBLE 15% increase in power with a roller cam, but you will rarely EVER see more than 15-20 horse from a roller car upgrade.
i dont know about NJ, but in NY swithcing to ANY other engine than a 305 isn't emmisions legal. its the same engine for the same engine, or it wont be. like i said though, that in NY.
you can do teh swap for under 3 grand, with everything you need if you go with the 350 HO (330hp) and an edelbrock vortec performer intake, and a holley 670cfm throttle body.
any q's, let me know.

Did you guys see that new RamJet 350, it is EFI equipped and comes with everything pan throttle body. You just have to bolt on your existing alt, a/c,accessories,etc. It even comes with its own wiring harness, all for $4500.00. I currently have TBI and am seriously considering this swap. The engine comes straight from GM and boast 350hp, 400ft.lb. of torque. Looks pretty sweet to me.

I have a friend running the MEFI, and real frustrated about being able to so anything with it.
The MEFI is a great unit, and has been used for years in the Marine world.
I am also getting the zz4 in about a year or so, but I'm getting it with TPI(sorry, selling out).
Street and Performance rates this combo at 385 hp and 450 ft/lb of torque. Emissions legal, with EGR. Here in VA I have to pass emissions, and this car is going to remain a mostly daily driver.

Sweet Mike. We'll be doing a similar swap next year. Actually, I was considering the ZZ4 but I decide to pay a little extra for the ZZ5 w/ an LT4 Hot cam. HP tv did it and it dynoed at 430hp I belive. Does anyone remember which episode I am talking about? Where they raced that 351 stang and it whooped the stang bad.

I'm pretty sure the 330hp 350 doesn't have EGR heads, the ZZ4 doesn't either. So I'm probably going to end up getting the 285hp 350 from SDPC. I wish I could afford the aluminum headed engine but I don't think that's going to happen. I wonder if they can sell me the caprice 2bolt block with the zz4 rotating assemble so I can afford some nice heads and do the labor myself. I have too look into this. Remember guys, I NEED EGR HEADS. Man I wish I had my 86 again with the asthetics of my 91.
