TBI 400?

Is it possible to bolt a TBI to a small block 400 with a carb intake and run it on the stock ECM?

L03 is ready to be retired and I have a engine on a stand rebuilt and waiting.

Is it possible, yes. Will it run good? Probably not. IIRC, there was someone here awhile back who blew out a cylinder sleeve from detonation when he used a stock TBI and ECM on a hipo 383. Itll need a 2" TBI, larger injectors, good fuel pump, tuning, exhaust etc.

Will a TBI 350 work? Can it be done using a Caprise ECM on the Camaro harness? I noticed that you are in NJ also. Any issues passing inspection with a TBI 350?

No issues passing inspection with a 350 provided the tune is good and the engine burns clean. 99.99% of the time, if you keep the 350 stock looking most inspectors cannot even tell the difference. I built a 350 Vortec TBI for a customer of mine a while back. I put it in place of his 1993 305 TBI in his Chevy truck. We choose the GMPP Vortec intake with the external EGR pipe and a 1996 C1500 driver side exhaust manifold. I flat blacked the engine and everything else looked and was stock. I then did some prom tuning on the later style TBI PCM that ran it. Blew practically ZEROs on the dyno smog test and raised NO added looks from the inspector. To NO suprise it looked stock to him so he did not question it.

Tom400cfi had TBI atop a 400 (406), if you search for his posts. I think he ran the equivalent of a 13.2 at sea level (from a low 14 sec run at 4500' elevation above mean sea level).
