Stage 2 chip legal?

I want to get a Jet Stage 2 chip (and a 160 degree thermostat). Can it be removed for emmissions testing? Is it too much of a hassle?

Installing a computer chips take maybe 3 minutes. I have installtion instructions at the site below. No hassle at all.
http://members.aol.com/j007golden/mod4.html

And here is how to put ur thermostat in.
http://members.aol.com/j007golden/mod3.html

Vice Versa to take it out the aftermarket stuff and put back the stock stuff when u get ur car checked out.

Hey Ethan, u from Michigan too? Thats sweet man, I am from the Flint area. What kind of ride do u have? Mine is in the sig. Maybe we could meet up in the spring time and cruise, there is another guy on here from Michigan that has a 327 TBI. His name is Duke and he is pretty cool. We could all meet up someday with others sometime?

The stage 2 chip is legal in California, so you can be sure it's legal everywhere else.

Yeah, I'm about a half an hour from downtown Detroit. More like a suburban area. Look in my sig. for info on my car. We could meet up in the spring. Not a bad idea. Do u autocross, or anything like that?

No, I haven't been on any cruises yet. Just got the car a couple months ago. I'm going for autocross this spring.

Because Nic's scared to go fast. Not like us, born speedsters. Michiganders! I will take u to a cruise in the spring. A flint cruise. You will like..... Hope u know how to drive fast, cause when the cops come during the drag races its an all out get away! Its lots of fun. People race for money and there is always some sucka with a V6 down there or another 305 TBI or TPI that thinks he can dust my 305 TBI when I tell them it only has an exaust. You'll have fun. 12, 11 and 10 second rides all drag racin for money. We can go to this autocross thing too. It looks like fun and legal I am guessing? What do u do at autocross? Run around cones and stuff?

Hey Ethan, have u ever been to Woodward Cruise? U know, in Detroit, the biggest cruise in the US? U want to get a little something goin on next year with a bunch of us thirdgens? Get Duke and a bunch of others to meet down there in some parking lot? Got a couple guys from NY that want to come too. I had a blast this year when I went. Went down with a 98 YZ R6 and a 00 RC51 1000R and a old 12 sec GS and of course my bird. I never seen so many muscle cars and sports cars in my entire life at one time! We went to Royal Oak afterwards and there were chicks everywhere on the Royal Oak strip and a huge aray of exotic superbikes. Temp was low 70's, had the t-tops off, perfect night.

What do u say? Think u would want to hook up with a bunch of us next summer to cruise together at Woodward? That would be a blast!

Yeah, it would be. We can hook up once the weather will get better. In spring or something. I wouldn't mind drag racing either. By that time, my car will be ready too. Autocross is legal, just like u described. I can't wait now!

Camaro's can go fast....But Birds can FLY!

Ok Ethan, I guess around spring time look for a thread on here about meeting up. I still have to talk to Duke, he hangs out at a Michigan fbody messageboard. Its pretty cool over there. A lot of 4th gen cars but there is a handful of 3rdgenners. We organize Michigan gatherings. Sometimes at drag strips, sometimes bars and most of the time at Hooters.

http://web.camaross.com/cgi-bin/foru...=10&LastLogin=

The link is long, but thats the one. Come visit ur fellow Michiganders sometime.

I talked to jet they said you should get 16-18 horsepower form it and i would order straight form jet because they said you have to ask them or tell them to note that you want the speed limiter removed.

I would really like to see someone get 15-18 hp on a non-custom chip. They claim its to the rear-wheel too. I don't care, anything is better than this hypertech chip I have now. Yeah, it works ok, but it could be better. I am not to upset. Only paid 40 bucks for it from Shane Buss about 2 years ago.

If you run a 160 operating temp., gets real hard to pass the test.
Most chips are for off road use because of this, at 160 you're still kinda in a choke mode, even thou closed loop.
There is no performance advantage of a 160 as compared to a PROPERLY tuned engine at 195.
