Should i keep TBI with engine swap?

Gonna be swapping to a 350 soon so im trying to plan ahead. The 350 that i have is carbeurated, and i currently have a 305 tbi. Wondering what my options are when going to the 350. Should i keep the tbi, and if so what would i need to not restrict my power? Bigger injectors, new tbi unit, etc...? Or should i just make the swap to TPI? What kind of price, labor, performance differences would there be between TPI or the TBI (with whatever i need extra) ?

Well, this is what I can think of, off the top of my head. I have a big list written up in my apt. but I am at work right now. Here is what I can remember for carb & TBI

670cfm TB unit-------$299.99
Edelbrock Performer--$200.00?
Custom Prom----------$250-$300.00
Motor Mounts---------$33.00
Distributor (MSD)--$285.00 (but u can use the
stock setup if u want, but
only with TBI)
AFPR---------------$65.00 (don't know if u
can make one on
the Holley TB)
I added the motor mounts in there cause ur gonna have the engine out anyways, and u might as well replace your really old, worn out ones with some polleyurethane mounts.

Now for Carb

650cfm/750cfm Carb--$300-414.00(Holley or
Demon Carbs)
Fuel Line-----------$35.00?
Peformer Intake-----$200.00
Non-Comp. Dist.-----$300.00
TC Lockup kit-------$65.00
Motor Mounts--------$32.00
Return-Line AFPR----$74.00

Now I am probably forgetting stuff. So if anyone has any idea what I am missing, add to it. This is the best I could do off the top of my head. Hope it kinda helps.

Also, how many miles are on ur tranny? Is it the 700r4? How much hp is this 350 suppose to put out? Cause an old 700r4 may bust on u if have 300hp. Just a voice of caution there. If u want to replace the tranny, http://www.pro-built.net Pro-Built makes different stage 700r4 trannys that can withstand a lot of torque and HP and they come with TransGo shift kits too.

Thanks for the info. The tranny has about 200,000 miles on it (well i think, not sure if its ever been rebuilt or replaced cause i just bought it a few months ago and it wasnt the original owner) and it has no noticeable problems, had the car for about 3 months, never a slip or anything. I am putting in a transgo shift kit and vette servo after christmas. Not sure how much HP the engine is supposed to have, its an 86 blazer engine, but ill most likely be putting new heads, cam, intake so it should be pretty strong. As far as the carb info goes, i cant really use it cause im in cali. What about the performance differences between an aftermarket tb unit and tpi? how much would it cost me to just make the switch to tpi?
Sorry this is so long

Hey Bargin Shopper! THose come with warrenties?

couldn't tell ya on the TPI swap but I know someone who can. E-mail COBRAKILLER1989@aol.com He has a 355 with TBI on it right now and he is swapping to TPI. He could tell ya what it involves. Hope this helps. And as for the tranny. Just get a pro-built if it has that many miles on it. I don't think tranny rebuilds come with warrenties, so if it ever breaks, u would have to have it rebuilt again and again. With a new one u wouldn't have to worry about that. Worth the money in the long run.
