Many people say that removing the cat does not do anything well i think i proved them wrong on Friday.
Stock h/p=170 (mods: no cat and 3' open element k&n)
Stock h/p of a 2000 Mustang (v6)=190
First i raced him when we were going about 45mph and he got a pretty big head start b/c he stomped on it when i wasn't paying attention then he was pulling away a little and then my car shifted and i gained a ton on him and ended up passing him.
When i passed him it wasnt a slow pass i basicaly kicked his a** and it was the greatest felling ever.
So people who say you don't gain anything bull b/c i dont think i gained over 20h/p form just the k&n and logically speaking the car with the most power should when espically if they get a head start.

Well i don't know if i gained over 20 h/p with the k&n and no cat but then how did i win b/c they come stock with 190 h/p??? And mine comes stock with 170 + the two mods i have done.
I'm not saying my car is a fast 92 305 but when i first got it i raced my old 92 305 and kicked its a** pretty bad it may have something to do with it only having 26,000 miles on it. But i also raced my friends 92 305 and he had complete headers larger y pipe and borla cat back, and hypertech chip stage two and a 160 stat. And we stayed basically even the whole time. And that was before i did my two mods. So maybe there is something i don't know about my car but i do know i beat the 2000 mustang after the mods.

Stock h/p of a 2000 Mustang (v6)=190?
Last I knew the mustang 3.8 was rated at 150hp. May have got a boost? I dunno.
How much torque does that tang make?
I'd think that his car makes more of it's power higher in the rpm range, your car should whip in the low end stock. That's why you caught back up.

I'm pretty sure I have over 190HP now too. I've raced 2 180-185HP trucks repeately and keep on overpowering them. And I've only done open element, open Formula hood, and rear section exaust

Anyone remember that race I had with that 222hp dodge stealth? I only had tires,pulleyes,3:73's (at the time) and my cat-back and I beat him by about 1 1/2 car lengths from 0-85mph. I didn't have that many mods at the time but I pulled away from a 222hp car. What are the tq ratings on those V6 mustangs? Is it below our 255lbs? Cause the Stealth that I raced had 222hp but it only had 201lbs of torque. Which would be the reason why I beat him by so much + the gears helped a sh-t load too.
[EDIT]
AH HA! I looked up a 97 Mustang V6 and it only has 215lbs of torque! So that may be the reason why u beat him.

I would think so, well maybe about equal, but you have to look at where it is too, for that engine it might be at like 4500 rpms, ours do it low.

if you beat someone while at speed I think its a better indication of HP since gears and launch get taken out of the picture. Also if your reving high and pulling on him then your torque isn't much of a factor, it basicly all HP. With the trucks it was on on loooong streets 1/4-1/2 miles basicly. I still got my 2:73 gears, but the best way to find your HP besides a dyno is to look at your 1/4 mile track MPH.

I missed the already at speed part, sorry.
"First i raced him when we were going about 45mph and he got a pretty big head start b/c he stomped on it when i wasn't paying attention then he was pulling away a little and then my car shifted and i gained a ton on him and ended up passing him.
"
Gears are also a consideration, the 2.73's will help a lower end power maker, it would hurt a high end power maker.
Ahh I just looked it up they do have 190hp, ha ha, they still couldn't catch our 3.8 at 200hp

Today if you would like. I dont have to work but my girl is coming over at like 9:30 so anytime before then.
I got a real good place to race but it is over by my house, its on like 108th its between harrison and giles st. Or anyplace you would like.
Also just found out a carwash code for free washes if you don't mind taking it threw and being that it is white it probably wouldn't do anything to it.
