new best for the stock cam!!!!!!!!

hey guys, just got home from a day of t&t at atco. got some new numbers for ya.
60' 1.917
330' 5.776
660' 8.994
660mph 75.64mph
1000' 11.741
1320' 14.215
1320mph 94.30

most of the improvement came from the 60'. i knocked 6hundredths off there and that equaled 8hundredths at the big end. i once again managed to improve my et while dropping mph from my previous best, i don't really understand that, but as long as it works who cares. i did get a new best mph of 95.89 while messing with shift points but i couldn't repeat it.

my motor has an edlebrock performer tbi, 1.6 roller tip rockers, and performer centerbolt heads.
the suspension is the full spohn kit(all moly rod ends), eibach pro kit springs, bilstein heavy duty shocks, and sway bars removed. drag lites front and rear, m/t skinnies in front and 26x9.5x16 hoosier quick time pro's out back.
plus my specially modified(read as broken) 700r4 w/ transgo shift kit and dana44 rear with 3.54 cogs.
the next move is an adjustable pressure regulator to control the 350 injectors, the car is running wwwaaaaayyyyyy to rich. then i am gonna get the tranny rebuilt and install a 2600 converter followed by the a new rear carrier w/ 3.73 gears.
hopefully that will net me something in the low 13.8 range.
the car is also going through a serious diet, trying to get it down to 3100lbs.

Good job Tim!! That's flying for a peanut cam 305. Between the new tranny, converter, and the go-fast diet, there's no doubt that the car will be in the 13's, probably the 80's - Maybe high 70's on a good day. BTW, how much is that TB flowing, or do you know?? I bet a 454 TB or a Holley 670 is definetly in order at this stage of modification. It would be really cool if you did a "at the track" installation with back to back runs to really see what the difference in a ported 305/350 Tb and a 670 cfm TB really was. I plan to do this later on, since I have a 454 TB, but it'll be later on due to the fact that I think I need more mods to really need the 454 TB and the fact that I'm getting my 82 Z28 ready for the track, and I've slacked off on the RS for now. Have you ever heard of any one doing the ultimate TBI mods to a 454 TB, with some porting and radiusing?? It should be possible to get at least 700 cfm out of one with a little work. I read somewhere (on ebay I think) that someone had a stock 305 TB that had been ported and polished and flowed 60 cfm better than a stock unit, if that was true, you should be able to get some serious flow out of one that was already 670 cfm. Just a thought.

the 454 is already designed like a tbi with the ultimate mods. no lips etc.. And there is no room to bore.

Oh I see, so there's not much room for improvement. I had never heard anybody say that. About the prototype you are making, it's based off the 454 TB right?? How's that coming??

thats funny. everyone is always saying that the performer TBI manifold sucks, yet the fastest 305 TBI i have ever seen has a performer TBI on it. Good Job and keep up the good work.

Did anyone see horsepower TV today? they were making a 600 hp 502 and they used a dual plane intake because they said it is better for a bracket car. i wonder why they didnt use a single plane intake? i am not trying to be a smart a$$, i just dont understand why everyone hates the TBI manifold. any help would be appreciated

NJ, man when I come home for spring break I'm going to have to see this beast. I can't believe you're still using the stock cam. That's crazy, my friend is going to be so mad that you're low 14's with a TBI 305.
LOL, where do you go, englishtown or atco?

dual plane intakes are better for bracket cars because they affected more slowly by atmosphereic stuff. the runners are more capable of creating their own velocity, where as the giganto runners in most single planes need thicker air to do it as efficiently.
if you look at my time slip it is the perfect example of a dual plane bracket car, a ton of out of the hole torque, that i make hook, and not a bunch of top end power. hell the fastest i have ever gone was under 96mph, but my 60ft times are totally killer.
like basset said i think there is a 13.8xx in the car if i fix everything, i don't know about a .7 on the stock cam though.
i have no idea what the tb flows, i have it set up to create a ton of air velocity, that's why i have avoided the switch to a bigger bore so far. the bigger bore will create more top end hp, but i love that initial jerk back in my seat that i get from my little torque monster.
i am going back to the track in 2 weeks, i expect to get the 13 then. i will have the aldl lock up installed, a divorced afpr set up, more diet, and hopefully a cowl pan installed. there will be videos of that trip for all to see.
the scale at atco has been broken for 5 years or so, i don't know what the car is down to weight wise, i figure about 3200-3250lbs.
i usually race at englishtown, i will know the exact weight of my car on march 3rd when they open.

NJ SPEEDER . . . so for your intake you are using a performer TBI from edelbrock and the stock tbi unit with 350 injectors? How does this affect the computer? Does it appear that the performer tbi can be bored out to accept a 670cfm 2" tb? thanx

Wow NJ, good job. Knocked another tenth. I wonder when Pablo is going to time his car damn it. The guy lives in a climate that is always warm and the tracks are open. Pablo, if your reading this, time your f-cking car already!

the ecm doesn't really seem to mind the injectors. i do need to lower the fuel pressure a bit though, the thing trips on itself sometimes.
i don't plan to change to a 670cfm unit for a long time, i just got another stocker to work on. i think properly prepared the stocker will run rings around the rather pricey holley670, guess i'll be finding out if that is right or not
the car is coming along, wish me luck, looking for 13's in 2 weeks, still on the stocker of course.
