CAM

I have to switch out my cam in my 305, for some reason it's got a flat lobe

Anyway, it has a Performer TBI intake manifold, SLP 1 5/8" headers, and that's as much as I'm putting on it, besides the cam. I want something powerful, but streetable obviously, it needs to work well with TBI too. I don't want a LT1 or LT4 cam, just give me some duration and lift numbers or something, times running out.
Thanks!

I really don't know what can work with what but I have heard that an LT1 cam works great with the setup you described. You will get far more power out of a new cam with that intake and the headers. Someone far more experienced than me will clarify and give you all the details. I have done all kinds of research because i want to do the same thing!

I really don't want to use an LT1 cam, there's gotta be something a little better. I want to get a brand new cam anyway, I'm not to worried about cost, cams arn't too expensive unless you get a custom grind or a solid roller type.

Anyone have a specific set of numbers to go by?

The LT4 cam is GREAT for a 305 and you won't find much better that will work so well with your ECU, especially for the price. If you want more cam, try the HOT cam but that's probably too much.

just try to keep the lift below .460 total. that will keep the valve far enough away from the bore to keep goo air flow. try to look for a duration that will make peak power near 5k rpm, that will leave the motor room to breath through the manifold while you run it up to an optimum shift point, which will prolly be around 5400. have you got any head work done? not many cams can breath well through a stock casting.

I have a set of 305 TPI heads that have been ported and polished.
