That was lame
but to dreamsbirds question, you sound like you are on the right track. If you just want a little more, drop your front swaybar, air up the front tires to their max inflation pressure (usually like 45 psi or so) and where is your timing at? I never got to test with mine when it was stock but looking back it would seem like somewhere between 4 and 8 deg base timing is where youd wanna be

Hmmmmm, nice set of headers and a cat-back would knock .4-.5 off ur 1/4 mile probably. And a TransGo Shift kit would probably knock off another .1-.2 But a full exaust system can get expensive. Around 600.00 after coating the headers. TranGo's are like 120.00

make sure the tune up on your ignition is good, hei dist. caps always get junky fast. also look at the tech articles and try to get every thing in the ultimate tbi stuff and the torque converter lock up. that should be worth a bit.
the big stuff would start with a posi rear and some good gears, 3.73's are the prolly the best.

hmm, advanced it past 0 and you got alot of ping? that sounds weird. With the timing at 0 and with whats on the chip, L03s only have about 28 degrees total timing which is very conservative. Did you adjust the timing correctly, that is with the est disconnected?
also, headers arent that expensive, you can get a set of flowtechs for 80 dollars and their y pipe is 100, out of the box its more than adequate

As if you would know since youve modded your car so much and have experience with a variety of headers and their pros and cons.
Ive seen a bunch of thirdgens with headers, and installed a few, cheap, uncoated. They all get the job done adequately and if you prep them well the rust is extremely minimal (far less than the factory manifolds anyway) even if you dont prep them well and they just flat out rust, ive never seen them rust to where holes formed or anything negative happened because of it other than not looking great. Ive been going strong for 2 years with edelbrock headers that were used for a year before I bought them.. all that time they were uncoated. They are fine, and the money i saved in not coating them went to other mods. Ive also seen flowtechs and hookers (the headers) in action. Spending anything more on a basically stock thirdgen that isnt worth much to begin with is just pissing in the wind.
Sorry for going off on the header tangent but i thought there was some misinformation floating around out there

with a cat back i doubt ud see a .5 difference from headers. Maybe like .2 but no way .5, thats like a 50 hp increase and i know for a fact that u dont get 50 hp from headers. Maybe like 20 or so. I do however agree about the shift kit. Thats good for .1/.2 in the quarter. IF u dont wanna spend 120 for a shift kit (which is pretty expensive) u can get a B&M shift kit through summit for 25$ and works just as well. A buddy of mine had that and a 4.10 posi rear end installed in his LG4 camaro and he chirps them into 3rd if he hits it right...he also has the edelbrock eliteseries and K&N filter to (that bastard

And Pablo, whatever u say man. Look how far ur cheap a$$ parts have gotten u. TRAP SPEED TRAP SPEED! LoL
Trust me Dreambird, I have bought cheap parts before and they never last. Your better off buying quality parts then some parts u find at a junk yard. Espically when it comes to internal parts that would wear with age.

hey 91birdbrain305,
i saw that he has 3.42's and 3.73's would be worth more. and since when is the tune up you mention in your first post a mod? plug wires only make people faster if their old tune up is totally wrecked.
why are you worrying about pablo's combo too. yer car seems a bit slow and lacking in timeslips for anyone to think you have the slightest clue what you are talking about.
up til now i have been going about this with a very laid back attitude toward your mindless posts. if you keep just ripping on everybody and trying to misinform, actions will be taken.

i think when talking about performance increases people should assume not to get a standard hp# increase, but a closer assumption would be a near standard % increase.
snf you are probably right
and whats this talk about not using used parts? you two arent using used parts and look how slow your cars are! nuff said!
btw my heads werent from a junkyard but they were used. Nothing wrong with them in terms of a defect. Even if they were brand new out of the box from gm with the same porting job they would give me the exact same timeslip.
sorry dreamsbird, back to your post
also look into relocating the battery, I believe basset racing saw a difference in ETs after this mod (im perpetually planning to do it just never have myself)

Anyways, yeah I think I heard someone say that the battery moving idea was a pretty good one, but something that would be used as like a touch up mod. Touch up mod as in like an alliunium driveshaft or something like that. Stuff that helps but nothing enoroums comes from it.

dreamsbird,
you might want to consider picking up a performer intake for 150 or so, that should let your car breath better and would most likely net you a little more than .1-.2.
------------------
91 RS W/carbed 350, Vortec heads, performer rpm, Comp cams Xtreme energy 224/230 duration and .477/.480 lift. BFG Drag radials. 3.42 posi,Corvette servoed 700r4, 3000 stallconverter. Edelbrock TES, 3inch cat, flowmaster with single 2.5 inch exit.
Best time yet to come
12's?? :crossthumbs:

Hey Tim. What would be the point of installing 3:73's when he already has 3:42's? Seems like a waste of money if u ask me.

BTW my car probably runs within .3 of your car and i havent touched a thing.

ok snflupigus, im sorry for this off the topic post ut he took a shot at me first. This will be the last from me about pablow.
dreambird u are looking for a quick few tenths. A shift kit is probably the cheapest way for a few thenths. If u wanna spend a few $$ on a nice mod than i would recomend gears over n e thing. Gears is one of the biggest limits on our cars from stock. I know of a guy in an 89 RS on this board that ran a 14.9 with 3.42 gears, posi and an exahaust cut out. Of course with the classic open element. So as for mods do **** kit, and start saving for rear end gears. Dont relocate the battery or remove the sway bar or n e thing like that. ITs really not worth the time to do that and things like that are so ghetto...
