I like the OEM silver look becasue the black one looks cheesy/cheesily painted, IMO. That's nice induction setup, the Vortec RPM AirGap and all! Sweet.

I'm kinda leaning towards the silver one myself. There both painted cheesy/cheesily. I just finished the silver one today.

I like mine:
http://jon.betamp3.com/Image26.jpg
It isn't an air gap but it's the RPM so same design with a little more of a stock apearance so as to not get me into too much trouble when I go for inspection.
I'd go with the silver just because it compliments the rest of the intake. I don't like seeing things contrast too much (red and yellow, green and orange....BAD, j/k)

JPrevost,

What size TBi is that. Is that the holley 670 or a 454? Also did u use an adapter plate on that sweet looking manifold? I want to upgrad e my TBi along with a new manifold. I was going to go with the EDL TBI intake and holley 670. I know that EDl TBI intake is pretty good I want the best. I want to make my car true to its TBI roots but with the best stuff money can buy. But your set up looks like it might produce more power. Have you ever been on a dyno?

Shifty, a 670cfm TB unit would be an overkill for ur stock engine as of right now. If you were to get a 350 or highly modifiy your 305 then I would suggest something like that. But for now, ur stock TB will do just fine. The intake though is a good idea. That would help you a lot since it is one of the restrictions on these cars.

i have the 454 on a stock engine. Its not a big deal. Dont waste you money. I bought it because it was like 100 bucks. that was 3 years ago. Actually i think the little one makes more torque for me. but ill know that for sure in a week or so when i put it back on and take the 454 off so i can flowbench it with the 1 11/16 tb, and my prototype.

thanks Bird,

I thought that the 670 would be a little over kill. I would only use it if I maxed out every other TBI option down the road. Plus a new fuel pump and lines would be needed to feed that baby. Has anyone used the Holley TBI intake. I saw it in Jegs new catalog and was wondering how it compared to the Edlebrock one. Also, when guys talk about the 454 TBI where do they get that. Is it a new product or do they get it off an old truck that had the 350 TBI?

Hey Tas, thanks for helping me figure out what I was doing wrong on posting my pictures.

I wonder how much it would cost to have a tb chrome plated? That would look sooo goooood.

Steve

Steve,
looks pretty cool. I'm interested, but unfourtunatley I am moving in a couple of months and am waiting on any further mods. Also can't decide wether to stay TBI or not. I know, I knwo you all will flame me for that, but I might have a line on a wrecked 98 Z28 with a 6-spd ( my cousin just wrapped it aroung a tree). If I can land that I'll be gettin out the torch and mig welder next winter and installing an LS1. WOO HOO

If you can get a LS1 and t-56 go for it. But if you don't stick with the TBI to be origonal. You might not be the fastest after all possible mods but you will still be faster than 85% of the cars out there.

Too bad for your cousin, but cool for you! I want an LT1 or LS1 also. I'd probably go with the 4L60 over the T-56, just my preference.

My setup is the 670 holley on the adaptor/spacer plate on the RPM intake for vortec heads. Under that is the 350ho engine ~330hp and 380 lbs-ft.
About that alternator: I picked that up in the middle of Pennsylvania when my car broke down. Long story, I'll try and make it short: My alternator broke down in the summer so I had it rebuilt to 140amp spec. I went on my way to Ohio when on the penn turnpike my radio goes dead. Let it be known that I was going through the tunnels (no pull over), it was dark (7pm) and raining. Not a good time to have to turn off your lights and windshield wipers. Then the car chugs on like 2 or 3 cylinders to a pull over. Locals were no help (fat guy answering trailor door in his white boxers and an old man behind him with a shotgun not kidding). So I walk back up to my car, a guy pulls over, he doesn't see me he's just lost. He almost drives right through me so I knew he didn't see me. So I tapped lightly on his back window and I scare the crap out of the guy. I told him my problem and he let me jump/charge my car. I take off and everything is fine then it cuts off again but jersey dividers on both sides of me...:-(. I finally find a place to pull over and the stupid "emergency phone" doesn't work so I start hitting all the ****ing buttons and the police show up. I get the car towed to a local gas station and they had an alternator. Stock replacement and they wanted the old as a core, I said I needed it because it might still be on warrenty. It wasn't. So I paid like $250 and had to do all the work myself because the slim ***** were so stupid. At least they were nice enough to let me do my own work, I must have suprised them when I said I could fix it :-). Probably thought I was kidding, rich looking college kid working on a car...HA! That's how I got the alternator and it's a piece. My volt meter dims real bad and I need to rebuild the old/new alternator back to 140amp spec. The funny thing is that it is in perfect condition with no petina (rust/corrostion) on any part of it, too bad I can't say that about the replacement.

I waitning to hear about the LS1. From what I have heard so far the motor isnow in the passenger seat and the tranny is sticking through the rear floor pan. It snapped the drivshaft. He belted a tree at 60 or 70 luckily it hit the passenger side and he walked away, thanks to the air bag. I'm just hoping that it didn't hurt the block. I've got my fingers crossed. If it doesn't work outI will stay with the TBI just because of driveability and workability. I'll know for sure tonight.

Steve,
By the way. Could You measure the difference in hieght between the RPM air gap and stock? I want to know so if I go that route, I'll know what height cowl induction scoop to order.
BTW- did you guys see the drop top Third GEn on the cover Super Chevy. Love the color!
