TBI Questions?

Hi,
I just got my tax return papers back and i am ordering a set of hedman shortie headers with the y-pipe and they are not smog legal. I am also ordering the accel tune up kit that includes accel u-grove shortie plugs, wires, and cap and rotor. I am also ordering the accel coil for it too. I currnetly have installed my edelbrock performer intake on it but i have to set the timing and change the oil and fill the radiator up. It also has an edelbrock pro-flw air cleaner on it that is a 14" wide and 3" tall. Do you think i will get noticlbile gains from these parts. I was wondering, who makes AFPR for the TBI and how hard is it to install. Also, what would be the best set of heads and cam for the LO3. If you could please let me know i would greatly appreciate it. Oh.. And if anyone could send some pics of their TBI engines with mods i would appreciate it. None of my friends think the LO3 TBI looks good or can be quick.. Thanks.

This was my L05 before I swapped to the MAF setup.

Now it is all business.

Its gone 14.6 @ 95 mph with a 2.24s 60' with 3.07 gears in the rear. It weighs in a 5,500 lbs with me and my toolbox in it.

If your going from stock manifolds to hedman's, you'll definetly notice a gain there. As far as the Accell stuff making a difference .... no. Unless you had fouled plugs and cylinders not firing, its just a tune up kit.

I wouldn't worry about the AFPR untill your doing your cam, but I just opened up the stock one a little bit on mine when I had my LO3.

Best cam for a TBI? I ran a LT1 cam and the difference was phemominal. Id recommend that over anything else. Just make sure you redo the valve train to match the higher lift of the cam. DO a search for heads and cam here cause I'm sure this was asked 14,564,567,897 times ...

actually it was real simple to do. i bought mine off a member on here in the for sale forums. right now theres actually a tbi spray bar plate up for sale there which youll need. the kits are NOS tbi truck kit, or nitrous works i believe is the only other company. all you do if run 1 basic line through the car to the bottle. cut a 3inch(about) piece of fuel line off and put the supplied connector in there then connect hoses and solenoids. slide the plate under the throttle body. connect hard lines with jets in it. wire it up comes with a diagram which is easy. be safe with it get colder plugs and retard timing and run higher octane 93-up. sounds harder than it is. took me 2 days to do it but i set it all up in one then wired it in another which actually was about 2 afternoons.

I bought those same headers earlier this year, and will be ordering the y-pipe soon so that I can actually install them. I'd like to hear how much they help. I'm planning to document the results of mine via the Gtech that I have. Before and after runs will be done. I also think that I'm going to make the y-pipe outlet into 3". Are you buying painted or ceramic?
