is it a 305 or a 350?
i have a 92 firebird that has the codes for a 305 tbi. i got it about 6 months ago and i have been pretty satisfied with it. but one thing keeps bothering me. When I purchased it from this old lady she said that her son put a 350 in it and i asked are you sure and she said yes its a 5.7 liter 350 V8 and was pretty sure of herself and i was wondering if there is some place where i can check if it is or not using the engine number?
Thanks alot

well does the motor look 'molested' its pretty easy to tell when someone has done a swap
but beyond that, you can try looking at the back of the block on the bellhousing flange and read the casting numbers. If you dont wanna do that just pull a valve cover and write down the head casting number. If its a 350 cyl head chances are shes not lying

BTW i know someone from Niceville!! They told me a story that during Christmas time they light up the big sign at the town limits that says "Welcome to the city of Niceville" and that some kids always knock out the NIC and LE lights in niceville so that it says "Welcome to the city of Evil" I thought that was funny

all my wires have been cut that hook up to my engine and rehooked but i know he did something to it either put a new engine in it or rebuilt it. but how fast should a stock lo3 feel vs a 350 in it because I have never drove a tbi before and i really dont know how it would feel but i think i will have to see the bore of it pretty soon to tell what it is.
YEa i thought it was very funny when they made it the city of evil but now nobody can do it because they have a bunch of sevalance cameras every where garding it.
THanKS everyone for the help

Stock Lo3 against any 350 is going to feel a lot different. I'd check the injectors also, see if they're 350 injectors from the colors. If they are then that's a dead give away that it's a 350. If that doesn't help then just do what Pablo said and pull the valve cover off and read the head casting number. If it's a 64cc head with 2.02 intake adn say 1.90 exhaust...it's probably a 350.
If you need helping finding the head info let me know.
