305 tbi high 13 possible?
I have a 1995 lt1 and t56 i was trying to sell and a guy in canada wants to trade me his 88 iroc with a 305 tbi and 500 cash he says it has ported heads and larger than stock injectors he said stock is 42 lbs he also said it has a bigger cam but wasen't sure the exact size the car got repainted and looks good it has power windows and locks but no a/c and a rebuilt trans. Is this car possible of high 13's he says it is i know tpi systems but not tbi and don't wanna get burned so please help i think this is wrong because it would have to take one souped up 305 to get 13's right please help before i make a mistake. the car also has a posi. Would you say this deal is worth 4000 my orginal asking price for the engine and trans and extra parts. I figured car valve around 3500 500 make 4000

do whatever you want. The 305 will be tought to go any lower than high 13's. because its a 305, not because of its injection system.

I was just wondering if this combination is possible of 13's i figured you would need alot more to go 13's also my Lt1 has a t56 and a reprogrammed computer new plugs wires and tes headers also new o2 sensors dual friction clutch but no harness it really worth about 4500 5000 but nobody wants to buy it and my body met an untimely death also a Lt1 conversion s very expensive when it comes to a harness and makeing it work alot of people tell you it is cheap and easy but it is neither. you can't use 4thgen headers unless you get a cuistom y pipe and 3rd gen headers lose performance becuase the exhaust port is not the D shape high flow also you have to burn anohter o2 sensors and people that use a pre 94 engine are pretty stupid because those are the worst Lt1 to use becuase they had a big problem with the opti spark in late 94 and up they put a vacum line in the opt spark to get rid of moisture the biggest killer of the optispark. and there are other improvements you would be better off with a regular 350 with mild mods and might be better of as the Lt1 has pretty crappy lower end power and a tune up is almost 1600 at the dealer and parts are pretty dam expensive and there really aren't many hi po parts when compared to a plain 350 .

lol....Lt1 t56 combo for a 305 anything is a bad deal. I don't care if he gave you $1000 cash with the trade. The Lt1 is a newer engine and it's a 350. If I were you I'd stick it out and keep the LT1 setup, I know a lot of guys that would want that. If you're set on selling it then put it on the classifieds here.

do u mean just motor and trans? if so id trade jsut an LT1 350/T56 for a nice condition good running iroc with a modded 305 anyday. We are basicly talking a whoe car compared to a motor, but thats only if hes talking about just the block. If not that what car/year is it?

I guess either the people that want Lt1 are either stupid or just losers because i have listed the enegine and trans 3 times both with the car that is a junk body with a new interior from a 4thgen,new carpet engine trans custom exhaust SSM SFC new rad lakewood lower control arms texas doors and deck plate reprogramed computer all the orginal Lt1 parts new slave and master cylinder dual friction clutch 1le a/c pulley so the a/c pup isn't a problem I have over $7000 in the car and was selling it for $5000 obo all that was really needed was a good body and a wiring harness but no takers the engine and trans only has 25000 miles i listed it on f body.com and get about 10 replys in a week but nobody came up with money then this guy said he would trade me is iroc for the engine and trans so that means no i get a good clean car that runs i got SFCs control arms 4thgen interior plus a car that has some decent mods which the guy is tuneing up for me with hi po kit crane coil 8mm wires and etc. If you wanna trade then you pay shipping both ways from California only about $1000 one way I am from detroit LOL. Trust me i checked when there was a bad*** 92 z28 1LE that only went for like 4500 becuase it needed some body work I know one thing is for sure the anybody who tells you a Lt1 swap is easy or chep is Lieing through their teeth and i will never try it again although i was one of the first people to try it this has been about a 4 year project and there are more companies now but still only a few

The LT1 swap does require a lot of work but it's probably worth it. How many people can say they get __mpg, run __ in the 1/4, and did it themselves!!! That alone is worth it to me. If it's a daily driver and you have no other transportation then it's a BAD idea. I wish I had a t56 in my car, would let me run great times and still cruise at low rpm. If you really aren't that gung ho about it anymore then do the trade. It's probably not worth the headache to keep something you aren't happy with.

Jon what mpg are you getting in city driving with that 350? What did you get before on the same trips with the 305?

yes it's possible. I have personally seen a L03 go 13.8@98. S/R Torquer heads, ported and polished. Posi rear end, 3.73's, Compucam 2030, 1.6RRs, custom dual exhaust w/ balance pipe, custom chip. So yeah, it's possible, but pretty heavy mods to get there.(I personally think it could have gone faster.. HORRIBLE launches.. )
Anyhow, if I had an engine/tranny combo in my garage.. just takin up space, and somone offered me a nice car + some cash, I'd take it.. hell in the time it took to type this, I'd already have it. Just make sure the car is in good shape, you don't want a lemon. Go through it w/ a fine toothed comb.. before you even think about the trade.
