injectors cleaned @ home
injectors cleaned @ home
I finally put those injectors that I cleaned at home in my RS. They spray a nice fine mist. I opened the injectors up with a 9 volt battery and sprayed carb cleaner through them and let them soak for a while and then opened them again and shot air through them. Saved $70.
I'm glad I can contribute. Things like this and charging the AC are where too many people get robbed. Look at the paperclip trick to get ECM codes - what a money saver! Since I brought it up, Freeze 12 is a refrigerant that mixes perfectly with R12. 3 14 oz cans cost me $20. I recharged the RS and it's a cold as R12. AC isn't TBI, but it keeps TBI'ers cool.

but now no ac shop in town will work on your ac because they have to have extra empty tanks to evacuate your system. they will test whats in there, and tell you they cant work on it. or they will charge 60$ a pound to remove it.
Was this compressed air? or did you blow through them? I want to do this to my car, too. Thank you. Maybe you should write a tech article on this?

I used the canned air like you find at Radio Shack for dusting electronic components. I put the tube right up to every opening and blew it all out with the injector still opened up. While they are out of the car, it wouldn't hurt to repeat the process a couple of times to be sure all the junk is disolved and removed.
My AC works fine. I don't need anything done to it. This stuff lasts as long as R12 does. These guys who charge that much to work on AC's can kiss my kazoo. They're taking advantage of the situation. They use their license to rip people off w/o one.

I am licensed.
Anyway, ac is a pressurized system. what do you mean it last the same amnt of time. r12 doesnt wear out, it leaks out. so if you got a leak, it doesnt matter what you put in, its not going to last. in which case you have to get it fixed. if you have contaminated freon in your system, youll have to fix it yourself, which if you arent trained, you wont do right. trust me, this is something i know, not something ive read or heard. i RAN an ac service/ aftermarket electronics shop, and i turned people away all the time because they thought they would save $$.
do it right man, buy the 134 conversion kit, and have somebody put it on for you.

Not everyone is. You have to try and save money when you can. It's like anything else governed by law. For example, insurance companies charge alot more for liability insurance than they have to because they know you have to have it to get your tags. Unfortunately, there aren't insurance replacement kits for sale anywhere. If there's a leak, it took 5 years to leak out all the way.
