13.9 on L05 long block?

Just curious if I could easily go 13.9 on my L05 long block, and what I would need to get me there. I'm using TBI and I can tune.

Dewey ran that all motor in his LO3 (not sure the exact ET) and without a doubt Fast355 has a few motors that would run faster than that if put between the fenders of an f-bod. Dewey ran a best of 12.9 (correct me if I am wrong) with that same combo and a shot of nitrous. You can tune so hitting a 13.9 is far easier than you think. Do you want to keep the heads stock and untouched? You may have to do a little work to them to accomodate various cam possibilites.

You're going to need somewhere north of 275 hp to go that fast, unless you have some drag gears, a huge stall or slicks or something like that.

Stock LO5's are around 210-220 hp.

I ran 13.6 in my malibu wagon, at 4000lbs with me and a full tank (lots of stereo equipment). I had a woeful 60 ft of 2.2, and a low trap speed of 98mph, I've done more tuning since then, and shoud have the n2o system fixed, looking for 12's. So it's possible, f-bodies are lighter.

You had me going there for a second, because your setup is similiar to mine and then I saw the 14.7 and I was about to slap you. Then I read the van part (which I always forget).

Lo-tec did it by using a junkyard Caddy LO5 long block into his 3rdgen, and to it he added a cam (204/214 ?), exhaust and a carb (avoided ECM tuning). He ran 13.6. Do a search and you'll find his post(s). 13.6 is on-par with a stock 4thgen LT1 car, so the engine made 260+ fwhp to go that quickly. So if you can tune you can duplicate his efforts with a cam+exhaust... as confirmed many times over by Fast355's work.

stock lt1 cars dont run no 13.6 stock..they run 14.0 flat AT BEST. LS1's at best stock run 13.8. Well that's what i have seen in my couple years of going to the race track.

I've personally driven a 1997 LT1 SS with an Auto to a 13.7 @ 95 at 800 ft. elevation.

Elevation above sea level has a lot to do with performance. Likewise for the track condition, tires, air temperature and driver skill. When they're all cooperative, a stock LT1 Fcar can run mid 13s.

Undercover89TBI, what is the track elevation in California?
