Find the fuel pump fuse under the dashboard and pull it.
Then start the car, wait for it to stall, then turn the crank a few times to bleed out the pressure. Now that you have releived the fuel pressure disconnect the fuel lines between the rubber and metal hoses. Get a plastic jar or funnel to mop up any leakage. Carefully dry off any fuel stains and go to work.

if you look under the rear of the car, on the firewall that the rear seat back rest, the fuel pump wiring harness is there. just unplug it while the car is running, pressure will be cut instanly. you will still get a little drip from the lines whne you disconnect them, but not much.

no no no the fuse is next to the battery.. you will see a little clip with two wires going to it on the fender next to the batt. The fuel pump fuse is there
I dont bother.. once the cars been off for awhile there is no real pressure.. there is fuel in the line that will drip out but thats it

on my 90 LO3, my book said, if there was no fuel pump fuse, just disconect the negitive battery cable, and then just use something to catch the fuel that comes out.

that is what i did when i changed fuel filters, it worked great. i did this after looking for a good hour for the fuel pump fuse.

good luck

un screw that gas cap and leave it off while disconnecting them. thats all you have to do. ive swapped tbis off and on bout 8 times now. thats all ive ever done, if you dont gas will keep coming out, if you do, it comes out stops right away and evaporates in under a minute.

Yup, all you need is the gas cap off there is really only like a few drops of gas that spill out if your carefull there should not be any problems.

Hmm. My fusebox has a fuel pump fuse, and the fuse next to the battery is for the ECM in mine...

dont worry about the fuse. just take off the gascap and leave it off till you are done.
