1992 RS 305
Hi
I have a 1992 RS 305 TBI.So far I have got Edelbrock headers and Flowmaster (2?) chamber exhaust. Can anybody tell me some good power building mods to get this engine up to 300-315hp?It's at about 180-190 now I think.Try to keep it relatively simple please, I don't know too much about engines and all the work would be done by my speed shop. Thanks

Find an LT1 with wiring harness out of a junkyard....less riskier than playing with NOS, an probably the overall cheapest way to get that much HP

That kind of power is possible with your car. I'd start with some WP S/R Torquer 305s, an Edelbrock Performer intake for a carb, get the Holley 2" TBI unit and their adapter plate so you can put that 2" TBI onto the carb manifold, and a nice cam and you'll see 300+ HP. A custom chip will be in order, and you'll have to open up the exhaust like you're planning on doing.
Also, Hot Rod put an Edelbrock intake with an adapter for the stock TBI, L98 Vette heads, a cam, headers, and a 3" cat and cat-back and their car made 285hp at the rear wheels. That's not bad considering they were using the stock TBI unit. They did however have a custom chip and bigger injectors.
Either way you go, parts alone just for the top end will run you around $2000 if not more.
Hope this helps,
Jason

I just did my whole 350 swap for $3000 but I did it, not a speed shot. Engine swaps are NOT as hard as they are made out to be. TBI is actually one of the easiest to swap, just make sure you intake system is all in check.
