What is the gasket\spacer under the injector pod for???

Hey guys whats up??? Well I got a new pod given to me so I thought I might as well use it, well I take my old pod off and the gasket off of the bottom tore all to #!@%. So I had a spacer off of a 454 tb unit laying around, I needed to drill the hole out right behind the first bolt hole because it was to small, WELL the damn thing broke so I cut the broke part out and used the front and the back of the spacer, My question is will this hurt anything??? Whats the purpose of the spacer\gasket anyway??? There's no fuel going to it?

Thanks for the info,

as long as no outside, dusty air is coming in from around where the injector pod goes thru the throttle body, you have no problems.

its a spacer, and a gasket, if it were just a gasket, it would be made out of thinner gasket material. its also there so gm didnt have to have everything perfect when you put em together, with a little padded spacer, your tolerances dont have to be as tight.

thats what i think anyway.
