LT1 or LT4 cam

I want to swap my cam but I'm not sure which one to get. LT1 or LT4. If anyone has another suggestion on a different cam I'm open to anything. I still have factory 305 heads, but when I get the cash they are going for a set of World's 305 S/R torkers. I want a cam that will work well now but will still compliment the head change. My mods are: Edelbrock headers, MSD ignition/wires, Ultimate TBI mods, open air K&N, no smog junk, open exhaust, 160 stat W/chip, and many suspention upgrades.

Thanks for the info!

they're both good. LT1 cam will be from $20-$50 used. I think you have to get the LT4 cam new which is less than $200.

Would you have to replace the springs on the vavles if you get LT4-cam?

Probably not but if they are old, you probably should to get the most performance you could, especially if they are older than 50,000 miles. Cheapo springs don't cost much and the lift and ramp speed of the stock LT4 cam don't require nicer springs than the cheapos, really. Unless you want to run at 6000rpm for sustained periods, which that cam is not good for anyhow.
