ZZ4 or LT1 cam, which should I choose?

I'm torn everybody, i have the choice between an LT1 cam, and a ZZ4. Which will be better for my setup, not only for best performance, but drivability. I have the 305, with Vortec heads, The Edelbrock Performer Manifold, A set of 1 5/8 headers, w/ Y-pipe. and a soon to be 3" exhaust all the way back. What do you guys think I should do?

Dont forget that if you go with LT4 cam you also need to buy 1.6 rocker arms.

ZZ4 cam is too much for a 305. You don't need 1.6 rockers for the LT4 cam. They just have to be self aligning because there are no guideplates on centerbolt heads.

305, TBI, auto, 14x3 chrome flat based open element with K&N, Milodon 160* thermo, functional Formula hood, cross-flow Flowmaster, '99z28 rear pipes and tips....

To be installed eventually far far far into the future: Yours if the price is right and I don't have to ship :
Hooker 1-5/8" 50 state legal headers, Dynomax 3" I pipe (PN 44063 and 43248), Catco 3" cat, and injector spacer.

No, you dont... It'll work with 1.5's, 1.6's, even 1.7's if your springs and heads will work.

The ZZ4 cam is too big for a stock 305 TBI, in my opinion. The L98 or LT1 cams are a better choice.

I AGREE THAT A ZZ4 IS TO BIG FOR A 305TBI.. I WOULD SAY THE LT1 CAM IS A MUCH BETTER CHOICE. JUST REMEMBER TO VERIFY THAT YOUR VAVLE SPRINGS CAN HANDLE THE CAM. IF YOU SWAP THE SPRINGS EITHER LT1 OR LT4 SPRINGS WILL WORK JUST FINE.

next month: spohn LCA's and panhard rod, BMR relocation brackets, 323 gear, lt1 cam , 350 heads
