60' 2.385
330' 6.363
1/8 9.679
mph 74.78
1000 12.489
1/4 14.880
MPH 93.66
80 some degrees
80 some % humidity
30 barometer

i only got 3 runs, this was the last one the first two i was still getting used to launching at the track and cut 2.7 60 foots

the car is down I estimate about 4 mph
not tooo terribly shabby considering ive done absolutely 0 time vs distance tuning, only plug reading
with a decent launch i think it could hit a 14.4 as it sits

Hey Pablo, can you list your mods here as well? I know that you have changed the cam and heads right? Something seems definitely wrong with your 60' times. I ran a 2.5s on my 60' with a 16.7s 1/4 mile. What kind of gears do you have? thanks

Pablo, those are some pretty good times. Do you have any idea of how much total money you have into it? also, time invested and a list of mods? good job

edelbrock torker II manifold
214/224 sis cam
1.6 stamped rockers = .474/.498 lift
305 L69/Lg4 heads, #416 casting, stock valves, ported by me
stock injectors
NOS external regulator
edelbrock headers and catback
3.42 gears and power trax locker
T5
eprom programmer

probably some other stuff i missed
in total, engine mods probably cost me around 500 bux, but i have put considerable amounts of time into the heads (waste of my time) and prom tuning (for no reason, wasnt reading the plugs for months so that was wasting my time)

the 60 foot is bad because the car is hard to get off the line, either I spin badly, bog badly, or get somewhere inbetween and get massive wheelhop. I need some solid lca bushings and lca relocation brackets i think that will do the trick.

If i can get a g tech im sure i can get the 4 or 5 mph im missing, its all in the fine tuning. Im dissapointed with the time I was hoping for atleast a 14.4 and ideally a 14.2 as it stood.. i think the mph was good for a 14.4 but I needed more practice runs. The track was so packed though that I would get only one run like every hour and a half (this was on a wednesday!)
so you can see why i never go to the track, took me two hours to drive there, got three crappy runs, and then took me an hour and a half to get back. Burned 40 dollars in the process too to make it back on fumes.

Pablo,
What were your shift points? Was it still making power? Was this with the 310? I dont think your times were all that bad for first runs. I wouldnt call them sh!tty.

Do you have AIM? whats your name?

my shift points were about 5800 rpm
i was crossing the line in third right around my shift point which was good. The motor does work out to a 310 but its probably down on power compared to a stock Lo3, the motor was free and obviously like a parts store rebuild. It has dished pistons which really hurts power. LO3s have flat tops

i go by TopfuelTBI on aim
and 11291690 on icq
i dont use aim as often but i can be reached on icq easy
ill turn on aim now

it was still making power, the car really pushes you back somewhere between 5000 and 5500... you can feel it start to run out of breath past that though but it will pull pretty hard to 6 and beyond though i dont normally ever do

pablo may i ask y such a poor selection in heads? I think with a better set u might be able to improve ur times. I didnt see n e thing about a 3 angle valve job listed for the heads either. Are u running the stock clutch as well? The oem clutches for these cars arent all that good. I had to replace mine in my car and its only got 59000 on it. SO if u havent replaced it already i would recomend that over n e thing. Especially with a motor thats faster than stock.

the heads were way cheap, and they had a proper rebuild on them when i bought them so i couldnt complain
they arent that bad i think the car can hit 98 mph in the quarter which is pretty good however better heads would mean a world of difference

oh the clutch is a stock used one that i bought with the tranny.. it doesnt slip so thats not a problem

like i mentioned before, i think the dished pistons are holding me back substantially aswell, the car has no real quench area in the chambers

when u say dished pistons what do u mean, I know there are different types of piston tops but whats the difference and how do they affect performance?

Hey Pablo. I had buh-buh-buh-buh-bad wheel hop. My rear tires were at 34 PSI (BF Goodwitch touring TA's). I dropped the pressure in 2lb increments. My magic number for ELIMINATING wheel-huh-huh-hop was 28lbs.

Nice to see your car running good! Get that wheel hop under control and it should improve with practice. I wish that you could try the vortec head with super victor that we talked about in the past! 13.9?

i would try that but ive re evaluated the situation and i feel that with dished pistons im just giving away way too much horsepower, i basically dont have any real quench area and dished pistions would not work well at all with a fast burn head

im just gonna go to a 350 next and use what ive learned on this little motor to make the 350 go

the 305 still has more left in it though

LoL WOW! I need to start getting online more instead of studying.

Well Pablo...you finally did it. And I agree with you...I was expecting high to mid 13's with all the work u have put into that 310. But I think it might be a tuning thing like you said. Oh well, practice tuning it and tweaking it. You'll get a better time. Good luck.

What you guys thought I was gonna say something mean?

Good job, Pablo. I think with a little chassis/hookup work, you'll get to 14-1/4.

A 350 will be easy for you because you have all the BIG flow TBI/manifold combo already, just need the longblock/shortblock!

Those pistons and heads are holding you back. You need a bigger cam, better heads, and flat top pistons to get 13's, but your making good times with what you got! You had wheel hop? time for some LCA's and a panhard, that'll take care of that.

With those temps, those are some real nice times.

Pablo, your a hero to TBI'ers.
My near dream is to get my 305TBI into the mid 14's, just like you and a few others have.

I dont know if you guys gotten the september issue of Chevy HI Perf. Im really following to see what they are going to squeeze out off that Lg4. Im also trying to do the same thing or about the same to mine. They are running 15.8's now and next issue they are getting some s/r torqs and a comp cam, shooting for 14's.

One last time, Congratulations!!
