No power after 1/2 throttle

I have a 92 RS 305 TBI 700-R4. There is no power after 1/2 throttle. When im in drive and want to pass someone it shifts down in second and i will be at 1/2 throttle then if i give it any more..no matter if i punch it or slowly go to the floor there is no more gains. Some times it will kick into first and then it will go but thats not what im talking about. What could it be? I have changed the fuel filter, have new cap, rotor, plugs, wires. Will it help any if i bump up the timing? Let me know!

I'd check the TPS to see if it is in spec (see the tech articles). Also if the car pulls hard in First through all RPM, then the problem isn't engine related. If the lack of power is only in higher gears then I'd look to the tranny, not the engine
