Bogs down on take off

Well we are getting around to the tuning of the TBI I am having one problem I am scanning the real time computer functions with turbo link and the car never runs lean at any time.......Now I am having trouble with the take off the car wants to bog down and then begin to take off (there is no backfire) am I getting too much fuel or could it be something else. I have the fuel pressure just about as high as the factory regulator will let me open it up.

Thanks

Hey snflupigus do you think the regulator will help and where do I get one?

I am having the same problem as well. Weird huh? It bogs only sometimes and it has even backfired up thru the intake, which is odd. But I am going to check my fuel pressure tonight and adjust it. If that don't work. I am gonna try what Nic said.

Well if you are getting a backfire you have a diffrent problem. I am having a fuel problem if you are getting backfire you have a timing problem. I do know that a LEAN condition could cause backfire. Pull a plug and clean it, run it a little and then recheck the plug and see what it says.

Here is another thought. We always have a lot of vacume when reading in real time. So my thought is maybe its not a fuel problem. I think your Throttlebody is too small to flow at the rate that your engine needs. So you have the fuel and timing right, but you cant flow enough air, therefore you are always rich. I think if you back a little fuel out you would be happier with it, but also remember you need new plugs because I am sure they look just as bad as your O2 sensor did.

our tbi is ok, but once you start asking for more fuel, and go over the ~210hp mark, its gona start restricting.

The larger the TB unit the more air is sitting "ontop" of the engine. When you open the blades up quick at WOT then you need a really good custom eprom pump shot to make up the difference for the fuel that falls out of suspension. I've been doing a lot of reading and from my experience with carbs, TBI, TPI and all that jazz....TB size is NOT a big problem usually. With a carb you need to get the cfm close, with EFI it means almost nothing. With the carb setups I've been around, the smaller the cfm rating the better the throttle response probably because of the velocity of the air through the carb but.....I really don't see the stock TB unit being a huge problem. I'm having the same problems as you Bryan. Right now I set my "highway eprom" and it's running a lot smoother and closer the 450mv BUT the throttle responce when the car is warm is bad. Big hesitation if I've been driving for some time. If the car is 5 minutes running my throttle response is perfect. Is this the same problem you're having?
Kyle, when is that TTA going to be on the road? Get your butt moving, I want a ride when I get back to Ohio this fall.

Has anyone ever thought about adjusting your idle adjuster see mine did that and i knock the idle adjuster pin out and used a tork rench to adjust the highier idle and now it does not bog down only when i is cold but let it run for a minute before you start driveing when it gets warmed up it won't bog down

The bog down isn't happening when we put it into drive from park. It's when we are cruising and just floor it into WOT. There is a bog down or hesitation that gets really annoying and hard to tune.
