Tune this cam???
Tune this cam???
I'm just wondering how hard it will be to tune this cam?? I'm new at tuning and im going to be dropping my 350 in place of my 305 this month. The 350 is a stock bottom end motor with 461 heads and compcam with 212int/exh duration and 440int/exh lift on 110lsa. Cant remember the part #. I have an afpr/edelbrock airgap intake/ edelbrock shorty ceramic headers/ ultimate tbi mods done.Msd coil and wires/3" exhaust with super 40. I havent tried tuning yet and was just wondering how hard its going to be to get this cam tuned in. The engine idled at 750rpm with 18hg of vacume with a carb and 10* ignition advance at idle. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Tune this cam???
Once you get some experience the cam you have should not present a big problem to tune. You may want to get some tuning experience with the stock 305 first if possible. With a cammed engine it helps to get it to idle initially if you flatten out the area of the SA and VE tables in the range you think it will idle, then slowly work out from there.
Anyway, good luck, jump in and start tuning, and when specific issues arise ask questions here and the members are sure to help with the advice you will need.

Hey thanks for the advice its greatly appreciated!!! I know that there is alot of info on this board and have read and learned lots already. I was just looking for some minor advice, like you gave me. I think I will burn a few chips this weekend and see how the old 305 acts with some more timing etc. THanks again!!
